    Consider Materia revision?

Looking at the different meldable materias I often wonder if this is the final form of materia bonding.

In our current form everyone is gearing to either output more damage or increase HP/MP.

What about materias that have +evasion +parry +block. or the +resist to poision/slow/blind ect ect.

Why didn't they create a system where Materia came in different shapes/sizes and gear was crafted with multiple slots of different shapes/sizes

So we could meld a HP+ a +parry and a +Fire resist on a single piece w/o the threat of breaking the item.

I suppose players could still strive for gear with a variety of attributes, but under current form there is a lot of materia going to waste. No one will risk a double triple meld of a variety of materia over stacked single stat materia.

    i.e. +20 str +15 parry +50HP over +20 str +20 str +20 str.

This would be a good idea.

    Agree with this.

Yup making players mix their materia instead of concentrating on just one stat makes more sense to me.

To refine the idea further, and to make what i hav efloating around in my head more clear:

Stat materia ( +str +dex + vit ect ect) is "triangle" shapped
attack materia (+crit +att +magic crit +magic att) is "star" shaped
defence materia (+block +dodge +parry) is "square shaped"
resistance materia ( poison resist, fire resist ect ect) is "circle" shaped
    HP/MP materia is "rectangle" shaped

Crafter gear can comes with different shaped slots to attach different materia to.

lets say a pair of caster gloves comes with 3 slots, (star, rectangle and a triangle) so you can meld a stat, an attack and a hp/mp

of course this would have to re-work the whole materia system, but what if SE made it so we woudl have a higher success rate if we meld different classes of materia?

currently first meld is 100% 2nd is 20% (I don't know the real numbers) the 3rd is 10% no matter what category of materia you try, only factor is level of materia level I has higher chance for multi-meld than a lv IV.

what if SE gave us a +10% chance increase if we try to multi-meld a different category of materia? we might see more use out of the system and more of a variety of gear.

I like the idea of greater chances of melding with different materia types, seems like the simplest solution.

    Depending on your first meld, 2nd meld chance = 42.5% (Grade 1 x 2) to 10% (Grade 16 x 2) for L41+ gear.

    3rd meld chance = 36.5% (Grade 1 x 3) to ~6.5% (Grade 16 x 3).

HQ gear now adds a flat 5% chance to all melds.
