Monk lore retcon? (some spoilers?)

I was going through dialogue for the Monk Job quests and there seems to be a retcon between ARR and HW/SB.

The Fist is suggested as though it's still around in some capacity in ARR (at least in Ul'dah and Little Ala Mhigo), but in the post-50 quests Widargelt is held up as the last member until he takes on students other than you (even if you only see D'zentsa and O'tchakha).

At least until the sect of shadow and then Adri/"Theobald" show up.

Anyone fancy a stab at fixing this? Some ARR quotes for reference (any emphasis mine):

Level 30- Brother from Another Mother

Gagaruna: You are yet a mere pugilist. Perhaps this task would provide some insight into what it is the monkhood does around here.

Widargelt: I see in you great conviction. You mean to walk the monk's path. And so I will give you this─a soul crystal. The mark of my order. None but a monk may hold it. And only then with the order's leave. But your chakra is awakened. That is clear. And so you are worthy.

Level 40- A Slave to the Aether

Widargelt: The teacher's work means nothing. I took no readings. I meant to hasten here. But I was delayed. There was a gathering of the monkhood. I was summoned to Little Ala Mhigo.

I get the feeling if you wanted to, you could swap in "the Resistance" for the monkhood. He mentions he's a member later in the conversation.

Level 45- Good Vibrations

Widargelt: Hear this. A set of our war garb was stolen. The Fist has tracked the bandits. We know now where three of the relics are.
