Yes, when compared to how much you can pay for it is barely anything. For an additional $19 per month you get 1,470 more slots.

Also you forgot the 200 glamour dresser slots. I would count that before counting any of the armoury chest. Especially if they are adding new jobs and not increasing its size.

Why are you comparing it to how much you can pay for? The point was that we actually got a ton that's free.

Nothing in this game is free. We pay for the base game, for the expansions and for the monthly subscription. I think the real question is: is the inventory space we have acceptable given the money we're asked to pay? I think it would be ok if only we had a better glamour system, but many players feel "forced" to amass gear just because they know that it would be very difficult to obtain some gear pieces again and so inventory space feels limited. Housing is a problem too in this sense, but at least we can buy fc rooms and apartments and use them as store rooms.

How about less inventory bloat in the first place, rather than the right to pay even further additional fees to deal with said bloat?

Nobody likes a pedant, just so you know. By "free" I'm very obviously talking about no ADDITIONAL fees on top of the standard sub fee, and I'm sure you knew that.

I think it's extremely generous, compared to every past MMO I've played anyway.

In particular, I'm coming off of FFXI -- a game which, for example, started you out with 30 inventory slots, and the equipment you were currently wearing took up half of it. Still think we have it rough in this game?

Sure, as time went on, more storage implements were added, enough to more or less be considered reasonable, but this took many years, time during more and more content was developed and more and more players therefore got lots of various things to fill that storage with. Even now with all the free storage unlocked, I'm more pressed for space than I ever have been in this game.

I'm calling it generous because that's what I feel like it is, compared to my past experiences with other games.

Believe it or not, paying for a game and a monthly sub does not mean you are entitled to as much inventory space as you want, or whatever else would be convenient for your gameplay.

A real glamour book would solve the glamour problem, an extra bag for certain common gathering items would free those from retainers and a tackle box for fishers would free even more space.

This way people wont need to pay x amount of more retainers and SE doesnt need to give us more free ones either.

Also since someone said that they cant give us one free retainer because server would not handle it but can give us one paid one because not everyone would buy it. So what will happen in the future? We already got one more paid retainer and the max amount was already increased so if someone needed space they have two more retainers. What if more and more people get another one? Will the server suddenly crash? Will they stop selling them? No I dont think so, because seemingly they could not give us the whole amount of sattlebag space but as soon as someone pays its possible. So I just get the feeling that they want to make more money and not because the server would really get bad..also what would that mean one or two expansions later? How much more should we throw away because SE keeps giving us more items to get but no new space to put them in.

Yeah, I'm not a funny guy. I wanted to stress the point though, because that way of thinking is extremely dangerous and it's the reason why all kind of predatory monetization practices are running rampant in the whole industry.
And I'm noticing a worrying trend in the way SE is managing this game.
