At least pre-release they said that the Chinese would have different servers to the rest of the world because of chinese laws, but its the easiest thing to over come, just use a proxy from another country and you can get on.

I know this thread stopped being serious a while back, but with regard to RMT...
The reason RMT get banned is for Real Money Trading...which brings me to a point I've heard in a few of these threads about RMT not getting banned: WHO THE !"£$% WOULD BUY GIL IN THIS GAME RIGHT NOW? I can choco from Ul'dah and farm some mobs for two hours, come back, and sell 100k worth of crap. ¬_¬
When 2.0 hits and new players start coming who can QQ about not having enough time to make money while doing the exciting content of FFXIV 2.0 (and/or the economy is fixed), the RMT will start trading, and SE will hopefully already have them on a "watchlist" so that when Relleslig Ahldskyf sends 100k to Idgaf Sottubhsams, who sends it to Ima Noob that just started 5 hours before, the STF can go, "Hmmmm..." and make a conclusion.
Right now the only evidence that anyone can come up with is that they have funny names and friends with funny names, and they're hoarding gil. Since names can be as funny as you like and us normal players are basically hoarding gil as well, we have to wait for them to start trading to say that they're trading money for real life money. Right now, they're mostly being completely legal.
