Actually started on wutai, though when my friends all left after launch i sorta floated around. Rerolled on selbina as it had the highest population... granted they are all level 50 so its like playing on an empty server.
Fishing is what i did in ffxi and always got called a bot as i was in the same spot more of less 9-5 for weeks at a time. It's hilarious how many people ran up and would start ranting about bots, only to have me say "Yeah, bots are lame... you do realize i'm not a bot". That usually ended with a "lol, my bad". Though you did occasionally have the zealots that said i was botting, just watching the screen constantly.. no pleasing some people. Actually called gm's for a few people harassing me.
I'd do that in this game.. but i don't see a point. After mining 30 levels (just to get my gobboue mount as i didn't know how to get a chocobo and refused to read up on it), and then trying to go back to playing lnc... I don't enjoy playing battle classes... so i'm not even wasting my time. So netflix it is.
The utter lack of any sense of accomplishment in this game makes me sad. I can understand why people would bot.. as you just do the same thing over and over. Mining especially, i could tell you as soon as i went up to a point what it was, and where to hit it... whats the point if you already know and are just going through the motions? This game is nothing more than a carrot on a stick, and it tries to keep you playing with the hope that it gets better... But that's what 2.0 is for... right?
Battle is the same way, hit a few times, spam a combo.. next.. The more i play this game, and the more i read on here and lodestone to more i realize this is turning into a "here's your trophy" game, and i wasted money buying something with SE's name on it.. again.
I still dream of the day when my gladiator(warrior) can use whatever weapon he wants to use.. but i think the dumbed down system is here to stay.
