Thanks for getting back! You are such a helpful and well spoken forum member.
To your points: I think I had all of my ironworks gear by 3.4 and nothing but the "blessed set" of tools came out in 3.5 if I remember correctly so I am not sure if I expect new gear to come out before 5.0. Then again you quite literally wrote the book on FF 14 crafting so you may be right when you say you anticipate new gear. I love crafting so I am working on the new set piece by piece at the very least so that I may craft the things I most enjoy. Thanks again for your time and energy.

If you enjoy crafting like I do, then let nothing hold you back! You should enjoy crafting your own 4.4 gear anyway. So craft them all out! Because "it's worth it". Because now, instead of calling it an investment of time and gil, it's actually a process that is fun. So have fun, Garret!

Only had Carpenter unlocked before today, but now the rest of DOH are unlocked. Started leveling those with Goldsmith, since it looked like it had a fun(ny) storyline. Onward and upward, eh?

You're enthusiasm is a commendable. Your guide looks like it will be helpful after I get these jobs out the starting gate. For now just doing the crafting log and guild hall quests.

Have you L15 on the other crafts? Important cross class skills come in at 15.

The velveteen set is L 28 - 30. If you have your cross class skills and up to date tools you should be able to HQ it.

I read it and it was of very little use to me didn't help much. The only thing thats currently helping is what you said If I have cross class skills which I don't so i've been leveling them

To get any craft to 15 just do every recipe once. The guild shop sells everything you need, except the cooking guild doesn't stock fish, you buy fish at the hyaline just off the aftcastle. The guild quests provide more than enough shards. Check with the local levemete before you dispose of the stuff you crafted, some of it will be levequest fodder.
