    Resident Caretaker in my O

I am kinda pissed off about how this house stuff work. My complain is how resident caretaker just poof ur furnitures after not collecting them back. I dont mind my house got auto demo, but my furnitures worth of many many mills is gone and mogstation furnitures aswell...
i had to take break irl reason so got back after 3 months of break.

This is the most stupidest thing i never knew about ur furnitures would poofd away after a certain deadline to it. Im not into that and i was planning tl change server aswell.

Oh well. Housing in this game as a whole is bad that i want to take break again.
Dont get me wrong. Im a house enthusiast and this just makes me not want to bother with it.

Sorry for my english im from eu

I 100% agree that the caretaker should hold your items indefinitely, or at least longer than 30 days. This is a really harsh time limit, and I'm not sure why SE selected it when auto demolition was just supposed to free up plots for active players, not punish inactive ones.

I'm sorry that you lost your furnishings.

Given that stuff is held on your retainers indefinitely, I can't see why they give you such a strict time limit. I'm pretty sure it has to do with them not wanting people to us the caretaker as an unofficial storage but really, who cares? It's not like you can just shove stuff in there any time, and once you've got it back you've got it. 99% of people "using" it would be doing so because they're not currently playing the game, not just as free storage.

10/10 agree, should be held indefinitely. I don't disagree with the housing timers given the way housing works but I definitely think this shouldn't be a thing.

As someone who’s been in this exact same situation I completely agree. I stopped playing for a while an lost my medium house. I didn’t mind losing the house because it might as well go to someone who’s actually playing, but losing the entirety of my furniture felt like a bit of a slap in the face after I decided to give the game another chance lol

30 days is ridiculously short. With such a short time-frame you easily run the risk of losing your items the day before you get your pay-cheque.

90 days would be far more reasonable. It's not unusual for people to be unable to resub for a month, but it's pretty rare for it to be as long as three months.

Maybe to keep people from using it as a storage don't allow people to buy any new housing (house, apartment, or FC room/ house) if they have anything still on the caretaker. That way people can keep their stuff on the caretaker long enough to make space for it, but not forever if they ever want to have any housing again.

You'd be hard-pressed to find any reasonable person who would argue in favor of the current time limit on holding on to furniture. Even people like me, who are in favor of the auto-demo, dislike the short hold timer. The only conclusion I can draw is that SE wants to remove the gil of your 80% refund from circulation. If that's the case, then I would be more than fine on keeping the refund time to 30 days as long as they hold the furnishing items indefinitely.

Probably because someone who's going to take a break can transfer their housing items to those same retainers capable of holding items indefinitely.

They can also transfer up to 200 of those items (excluding outdoor fixtures/furnishings) to an apartment for indefinite storage since apartments don't demo.

People have options if they know they will be taking a long break from the game. SE can't help it if they choose not to use them.

At the point that the stored items can no longer be reclaimed from the resident caretaker, 80 days have passed from the last time the player entered their house (and presumably logged into the game).

The system is already working close to what you suggest.

I'm not trying to say I'm against a change being made but there will always be some players not satisfied with whatever point SE draws the line for retrieval and will argue it should be increased further.

    Sorry you lost your stuff

For now apartments are more than enough to keep me occupied/satisfied, but stories like these make me wary of houses even if spaces opened up and I had the gil.

Thanks for helping make the FFXIV community a fun and welcoming place. If you're not sure you have (and you very likely have), make it a point to be patient or helpful the next time you log in so that you can know you've made a difference.

If you're on the Aether data center, congratulations! I might be your next exciting adventure healer in the Duty Finder. Please look forward to it.

I understand you're upset about losing everything but it's not like it specifically states in the demolition email you've received how long it will remain until lost forever.

They should however change the current systems, i agree.
