The quote even further elaborates by suggesting your account handles could be tied to personal information, i.e., you post it on your Facebook. It never implies an absolution, which is what you've been doing.



You provide consent to SE for your personal information. In-game features or data do not count under that umbrella nor do you own said information. If FFlogs were somehow able to replicate your actual name, address, email and etc, then you'd have an argument. As it does nothing of the sort, putting your name in what is essentially a statistical database is no different than if I made an excel spreadsheet of forum posters. I do not require your permission to do so nor am I obligated to remove your name should you ask.

I would be amused to see the reaction of the courts if someone tried to take legal action over it. It's not personal data protected by law.

Whit the company i was referring to fflogs, its a lucrative organization (unipersonal or in a for of company) that get revenue from putting publicity on his website trading of information from a game from witch dont have any authorization or right to do. I dont know in which country you live or so but in most countries of Europe that is prohibited.
Why do you think SE bann people when get reported from using third party software? If you use a bit your brain you will know its to reduce the risk of justice problems.

I just tell you what it is, i dont care of that website and if I im there and my logs are green, blue or multicolor.

As soon as you enter a nickname when creating your character, that name doesn't belong to you anymore, it belongs to SE. If SE decides to make that information public, it's none of your business, you have no control over it anymore. Finally, you cannot ask someone to remove something from their data collection if that data doesn't belong to you.
Same goes for the battle data generated by their game. It's not yours by any stretch.

If you wish to see the name of the character you play (note how I didn't say "your character" nor "your name", simply because they aren't yours) be removed from a third party website, your only option is to kindly ask SE to take action against that website. I say "kindly" because there's absolutly nothing that legally forces them to do so.

In short terms: you don't own anything, and therefore, can't do anything about it.

The caveat here is that the EU is not the world. There are other countries that have different laws and different things that are prohibited and not prohibited. Trying to enact EU law on a site that isn’t based in the EU won’t get you very far.

The only individuals that have any right to enact any sort of legal action on FFLogs (which is not a company, FYI) is Square Enix. They own everything in this game: your character, your account, even your forum handle and your character’s name. Considering they have not taken any action, I don’t think it’s something high on their list of priorities, nor do they consider it a threat to privacy.

FFLogs pulls all the information on your character (name, server, guild if applicable) from the Lodestone anyways. Which SE has publically published. There are no privacy violations here.

The only revenue they generate are from google adsense and donation—neither of which infringe on SE's copyright, which is the only scenario this whole legality argument would be relevant in. I suppose the recently made Market Board app would fall under this nonsense since, it too, lists character names.

This is about how Square Enix handles the personal information you give them. Maybe I missed where it says your battle log information is private, personal, and protected information that's stored with your player character / account.

Funny thing is, the most information FFLogs actually uses from FFXIV is its publicly available lodestone profiles. Profiles that are online by default and provides no information about the player behind the character that the public Lodestone profile does not. Everything else is publicly uploaded battle log information.

So if u use that system its better to upload just ur character info or/and the friends that allow you to do, you will be more save against a bann or the website itself being closed at the worst escenario.

FFLogs has been up for 2+ years. If SE was going to take legal action against it, it would have. There's been plenty of time for plenty of complaints to have been made, and many have been made.

Feels like privacy is a thing of the past these days. Pretty sure some people will feel very uncomfortable being spied on even if they got nothing to hide. It's rude after all but the concept of ethics is skewed online with people hiding behind their keyboards.

Expecting privacy on information from the battle log is like being offended that someone pointed out a certain person is wearing glasses, as if that's something private. It's there available for anyone in the party to see, and parsers just conveniently gather up that info and present it in an informative manner.

One's skill level directly affects the rest of the party. Parties have a right to know what kind of player they're getting, specially nowadays that concealing one's skill level and lying about experience level with a certain duty runs rampant in the community.
