No point in job progression of this scale if alot of players can't even push past 25% of theoretical maximums with what we already have.

Also FFXIV =/= GW. The jobs don't change names or add exclusive progression abilities with rising levels because jobs are very lorebound. The jobs existed since the first FF game (alot of them at least) and have been continued repeatedly until eventually FFxiv's turn. If a Black Mage was eventually called Wizard, I'd be kind of confused to why they break part of FF immersion in favour of "job progression". It's a dumb concept anyways, just rework, improve or even ADD abilities as needed.

FFXIV= you build individuality through glamour, race, and titles. You don't build individuality through class or job or skills because it would be impossible to balance. Hell...it's hard enough to balance the way things are, and people STILL complain over <5% performance between jobs within a role. Compared this to XI where a mythic weapon on Dragoon transformed them from being the worst DPS job to being 200-300% better than the best DPS job without their mythic weapon. Moreover, it's overstated but I'll state it again: having choices and options to differentiate your character from others through traits or skills is an ILLUSION of choice. People will eventually math out the most optimal builds for the highest DPS/Healing/Tanking to be the most efficient for content and then picking anything that ISN'T the meta, means you get booted from content or at least fall below optimal play.

There's already class individuality through their main weapon as well as AF armor, spells, and skills.

It doesn't have to be that way, but even assuming it is, depending on what has to be done to get traits and skills, it being an illusion still doesn't really matter.

Gearing your character currently offers some illusion of choice, the optimal is quickly mapped out but it doesn't really matter, the fun is in reaching that optimal point.

Not that I support the OP, but just in general.
