On one hand I'm hoping it's time-work, but on the other, I hope it's something a lot more. Time-work was covered in WoW, and in the end it wasn't all that spectacular, plus it left me with more questions than answers. The more I listen to the second voice, the more I believe it really is an older Alphinaud.

Thancred is shown escorting a shorter being through a building when they're attacked.

If it is him. As of know he's AFK... though if that is him he would have obtained a new eye! (One has been covered since HW I'm pretty sure)

But if that is him, then maybe whatever knocked out allies so far is resolved either in 4.5 or quickly entering 5.0? It seems like he most certainly has a bearing on the situation he's in so that would imply that he wakes from his condition and has spent at least a notable amount of time in where ever that is to have that kind of apparent awareness of the situation and whoever he's escorting...

But then again, it's a trailer. I doubt the story relevance and the trailer won't be 1:1 but even still; I would like there to be at least some time before the allies recover so that the feeling of lost and hopeless isn't short-lived that Alisaie is feeling...

Also having done Stormblood beast tribes, the snake tribe in particular; one of the quests for reputation makes me feel that hope for our kobolt friend isn't for naught...

Researching the trailer. More support in the leaning towards Thanced is that the ears of the model in the trailer are that of a Hyur, not am Elezen

and Thancred's voice and witty way of speaking. it's thancred all right. I also thought the "Disaster must be undone" voice may have been future alphianaud.
