Hello! So I've had this on my mind for some time (link), and I would like the Dev Team to please consider cleaning up and/or clarifying a few tooltips in the game for class/job actions. Astrologian in particular has very cluttered tooltips for its Aspected Benefict/Helios actions. To better explain, I will do so as a before and after for that one, as well as my suggestion for how to improve others (Dark Arts being one of those).
Aspected Benefic (v4.45)
Restores target's HP.
Cure Potency: 200
Diurnal Sect Effect: Regen
Cure Potency: 140
Duration: 18s
Effect cannot be stacked.
Nocturnal Sect Effect: Erects a magicked barrier which nullifies damage equaling 250% the amount of HP restored
Duration: 30s
Effect cannot be stacked with scholar's Galvanize.
And after. (And yes, I know Aspected Benefic stacks with other regen effects despite the tooltip saying otherwise.)
Aspected Benefic
Restores target's hp and provides an additional effect based on your active Sect.
Cure Potency: 200
Diurnal Sect
Additional Effect: Regen
Regen Potency: 140
Regen Duration: 18s
Cannot be stacked with other Regen effects.
Nocturnal Sect
Additional Effect: Barrier
Barrier Strength: 250% of health restored.
Barrier Duration: 30s
Cannot be stacked with other Barrier effects.
Note: Barrier is meant to be shorthand for a proposed status effect for 5.0 ("this nullifies a certain amount of damage") to better consolidate what stacks with what, and what does not. For example, SCH shields and AST shields don't stack (both provide a Barrier) whereas SCH/AST shields and Divine Benison/The Blackest Night do stack because the latter technically do not provide a Barrier.
This is mostly because we might get a new healer job in 5.0 and, if we do get one, it could potentially give out shields and increase inter-action mixes, and as such would cause for even more clutter and wordiness in tooltips (e.g. "Cannot be stacked with scholar's Galvanize or 5.0job's whatever.").
For Dark Arts (but this is by no means the end of the list of affected tooltips; Machinist ammunition is another example), I think it would simplify matters a lot more if every action enhanced by Dark Arts was listed on the Dark Arts tooltip. In other words, it would look something like this, and to use Bloodspiller to explain how a Dark Arts-enhanced action's tooltip would look after:
Dark Arts
Attune with the darkness inside you, increasing the potency of several actions. Can only be executed while succumbing to the Darkside. Effect fades if Darkside is cancelled.
Duration: 10s
Dark Arts Weaponskills
Syphon Strike
Power Slash
Souleater
Quietus
Bloodspiller
Dark Arts Spells and Abilities
Dark Passenger
Abyssal Drain
Carve and Spit
And then the proposed Bloodspiller.
Bloodspiller
Delivers an attack with a potency of 400.
Grit Potency: 475
Blood Gauge Cost: 50
Dark Arts Effects
Potency: 540
Grit Potency: 650
Dark Arts fades upon execution.
(Ideally, though, Job Gauge mentions would be in the resource part of the tooltip itself, rather than the actual text.)
