Rift tried to get out of the WoW-clone(and even more accurately, DAoC-clone...) rut, or so they claimed.
FFXIV and XI were pretty damn original, but XIV is still in its baby steps. Let's hope that XIV can at least be a stepping stone in the right direction for the genre.
