Why are "Scion home base" areas not counted as sanctuaries?

It seems like an oversight that the Waking Sands and similar locations (from memory: the Rising Stones, Camp Dragonhead intercessory, Fortemps Manor and Ruby Bazaar office) are not counted as sanctuaries. Rested bonus doesn't apply, and glamour plates can't be used.

Lore-wise, I think the 'sanctuary effect' is supposed to come from aetherytes, in which case it does make sense that the Waking Sands itself is unaffected, but all the other locations are within in aetheryte zones.

Has this been asked about or explained before? Is it something technical to do with them being variable instances, perhaps?

It's not a big deal, but it's a little annoying, and I'm curious.

I mean after what happens in the waking sands in 2.0 would you count it as a sanctuary?

Likely because they are technically "out" of the aetheryte area by function of being an entirely separate instance. So even if the location of the door is inside of a sanctuary area, such as Camp Dragonhead and Kugane, the room itself is not technically within that location.

Or at least, that would be my assumption. It's a little silly, but thinking of it from a technical standpoint, I suppose it'd make sense for that to be why.

    Houses and apartments are sanctuaries.

There isn't really a good reason for this other than a mixture of oversight and low priority.

    Pretty much this.

I also don't think they want people idling in those areas.

I do understand they're not "physically" within the building in the town - I just meant from a lore perpective, it might make sense if we only had the Waking Sands because it's in a town that doesn't have an aetheryte, so it's not supposed to have a sanctuary effect anyway. But that's not the case for the other locations.

That could make sense, being instanced areas. Does it take up server space? Is there a rarely-hit maximum limit to how many people can be in 'their' Waking Sands before someone isn't able to enter?

I tend to idle in there anyway, because it seems like a logical place the character would want to sit around, and the rested bonus isn't all that precious.

A lot of FFXIV reminds me if WoW before the Cataclysm expansion 10 years ago...

Rest zones are oddly placed and there are hundreds of quests that send you from ‘A’ across zones to ‘B’ just to click one thing and then run back to ‘A’, click one thing, and then go back out to ‘B’ again to do something like a cinematic or fight one single mob...

    Pointless purposeful inefficiency...

The stories are great here, but they are laid out amazingly badly...

And rest zones, aetherytes, glamour spots are in this as well. They are not placed well for players are often located for extended stretches of time...
