In 4 mans, dps limit break might save 3-6 seconds on the run, even if it's a caster lb on a large pull (provided people know how to aoe)
In story mode raids, or primals, the fights are adjusted to be able to just faceroll it anyway, so people don't stress lb usage as much.

Then into savage/extreme/ultimate, the limit break is required in certain spots, by different roles to complete the mechanic, or make a mechanic easier, so usage then becomes dictated more by the fight than preference to do a big hit of damage.

People also generally don't like doing it in other situations because it can greatly impact your rotation.

Been making a point of spamming the LB as I finished leveling my Ninja the last few days. She’s a Hyur alt slowly becoming a main (my Cat has all the tank classes but in just coming back to the game I am thinking of a role change)...

Out of maybe 6+ uses I would guess 2 were worth it.

Both moments where the tank, healer, or both had gone down and we were at 1% and near a wipe. On a third such situation... boss was at about 5%... so I just ran to stand in something rather than bothering.

    - these are extreme edge cases that I am only seeing because I am a returning player and getting grouped with people that are even less aware of what’s going on than me...

In other words LB only seems useful when your tank, healer, or both are not good, and your DPS are also not good... but just a tiny bit better... so you end up in a near wipe at 1%...

Outside if greenleaf and returning players, that’s a situation that’s not very likely...

well, it depends on more than one condition and that is more than a group of randoms can handle, despite being very easy to determine:

I play mosty melee, almost always monk.

First, when LB is ready and I am in my busrst phase, doing LB is a waste of cooldowns. that's why I hate all those "USE LB NOW <se.1>" macros, because there is time when LB fits into my rotation and time when it is not. If the LB had 2s cast (including animation lock) and was affected with buffs, OK, but it is not.

Second, if I have a ranged/caster in dungeon, using LB on trash pull is better. But LB is usually charged during 2nd boss, so I don't use it because I hope for AoE LB next pull. If the caster won't use it, well, can't go back in time...

Third, a lot of dps think you have to kill boss with LB or the Earth will explode. By the time we reach last boss you should get the feeling on how fast the boss will die, so: if it takes too long, wait for LB2 (makes more damage) or LB1 right after opener (or when it is ready and you are not in burst phase), because if LB2 is not taking away at least 10% you may just as well not use it.

All of this is hard to communicate in PUG, especially in DF, despite being a common sense. You have to trust 3 strangers to have common sense: that is why LB is not used very often.
