Why do DPS not use Limit Break anymore?

I have been levelling my tanks and healers recently and I have noticed that a large majority of the DPS that I run with don't use Limit Breaks on bosses anymore. And the ones who do, usually leave it until it is too late and the boss is within 2-3% or they die during the Limit Break usage.

I have always made sure to use Limit Break whenever it is available especially when on Melee. So what happened to the Limit Break usage?

Nothing happened, it was always like that.

Problem is the limit gauge is a shared ressource and people are worried to use them because they maybe get yelled at for using it at the wrong time (or at least what the other person thinks was the wrong time). So they hold onto the LB until the last moment, when it is definitely not the wrong time to use it - but because they use it too late or not at all (because they forget that the LB exists) they actually doing it wrong anyway.

When a caster dps I prefer to use my LB on a large pull of trash mobs personally. I always use it if a melee doesn't use it on the boss.

This is what I do when I'm on leveling caster jobs. I stopped using LB on melee dps jobs when I see a caster or brd in party but nope. Bosses in low leveling dungeons are so easy to kill that I don't see the point of using LB on them anymore.

As a tank main, this is generally my preferred use of the LB.
If I see our LB unused and the last boss hits 5% I'm usually just going to use Mighty Guard at that point. I may as well use it since a DPS would do more damage by pressing their rotation that they would by overkilling the boss with an LB.

Oh yeah limit break. I forgot about that. Just came back to the game, and am completely rusty. That's my excuse.

If there's a Caster in the group, odds are the melee DPS isn't using it because they expect the Caster to use the LB on a large pull.

Will simply depend on whether bosses or trash are easier to kill. In dungeons, the choice will almost always go to casters, as an Caster LB will deal 75% of a Melee LB to every enemy, without fall-off, while a player AoE tends to average 40% at most of their average single-target potency output. And yet many casters still fall under the misassumption that LB is a "boss thing".

When it's completely new content, or old content but have at least 2 newbies in an instance, some DPS don't use lb3 til boss is close to dying in case all dps (and sometimes at least 1 tank and 1 healer, in 8-man/24-man content mostly) die.

I don't lb3 bosses until the last 10% in Duty Finder. I've learned from experience that no matter how easy the boss might seem or how smoothly it's going, a group can always somehow fall apart and near-wipe leaving just a healer and one or two others alive. The tiny bit of extra damage rarely makes a difference on non-savage, but a healer lb3 can save a wipe.
