So I'm back for the free login period - I haven't decided if I'm going to actually resub or not. While I have forum access due to having logged into the game, I wanted to bring this up.

One thing that does not help the game's cause is error 2002, which tells you that the "Lobby Server has encountered an error". Then, unlike most other server errors, the entire client shuts down. The whole thing. You're back to the desktop.

It's been like this since the first days of ARR, and it is ABSURD. It's one thing to have an error that prevents you from playing until it's fixed - they've been happening too frequently as of late, but that's a separate discussion, and obviously even if SE is doing everything right, there will be connection errors SOMETIMES. We can all accept that.

But an error that is, according to the error message, a SERVER ERROR should not shut down your local client. Even the launcher closes and has to be reopened, which takes a while, you have to re-enter your password and wait for the whole game to load, etc. It's maddening.

PLEASE consider doing something about this. There's no good reason why a server error should shut the entire program down forcing the user to start from scratch with the launcher, and I'm a bit baffled as to why it's still like this so many years after ARR's launch.
