    Job Guide Books

    Heya,

I had an Idea today, to help new Players with their Classes.
It just would need a small bit of work of the Devs to work with the Community.

They make a Job Guide Contest, like the Art Contest and people can send in their Idea for a "Class Handbook".
When I played I noticed how a lot of people don't find the optimal way, to build their Rotas or how to play their Class in a well working way.
A lot of those Guides are sitting on Reddit or Discord Servers. But a lot of people do not really like to search things for help inside the Game, outside of the Game.

For the Contest, people can send in those with some Basic Design Rules, to give them all a similar Style and the Winner Books will be added to the Game, as an important Item, which can be get from a Special Vendor, who later will Store it in several Languages.
It contains everything like a normal Guide, with Pictures, explanations of Skills, advices which Buffs and Debuffs are the most important and some Rotations.

The Winners get a Special Coat as a Glamour, called the "Coat of the Wise".
People can also send in Translations for other Languages, to help Players from smaller Regions with less Players where the Standard Translation does not cover it.
Those Players get the "Coat of Speech" which is the same Coat, but with some different Details.

Whenever I see people struggling with their Class, I feel like the Game needs to be a helper to them and not send them to an external Website or some Discord Servers to learn how to play their Class. Also some people give pretty weird advices in the Game, because maybe they also don't know it right, but want to help.

This is just a Basic Idea I had today, but maybe someone likes it.

    Your idea is terrible.

    ...

Just kidding. I didn't even read it.

The problem with any codified guide is that it will be outdated almost instantly. Any time the devs tweak a skill or change a potency or, at expansion launch, add new skills, the old guide is irrelevant.

In theory it isn't a terrible idea, but making it in-game loses the instant ability to edit that Reddit/Discord versions have. And anyone serious enough about their rotation will have all ready sought those ones out.

And you wonder why people think you're a troll.

SE has general information on jobs on their site, including base combos. I did think about making Astrologian flash cards for myself though because that's something I have a hard time with.

Would work as a persistently updated website, not so sure about a published book. Would be nice if proper official guides existed.

I'd be okay with this if it was in the game and like others said, updated with each patch via community effort. Not everyone even realizes there /is/ an optimal rotation, or even a proper rotation at all to some classes, so having a place to start that they're forced to see when selecting the job and that covers each step of their progression would be handy. Hell. Even just a 1-50 rotation explanation, that again is updated because SE borks that with each expansion, would go a long way to helping the 1-2-3 or 1-1-1 spam we've all seen in dungeons.

The issue as others people have said however, is that someone /needs/ to keep it updated. And I don't trust SE to do that.

Another issue with this is that it's subjective.

I mean, to a certain extent you can break rotations down to math. However, in reality, there are plenty of times one should not follow the rotation as well. By releasing these so-called "class guides", SQEX would be putting an official seal on one rotation. This in turn would lead to people calling out anyone who doesn't follow this "holy grail" rotation. And it would also discourage players from experimenting.

DPS rotations are pretty static, but just off the top of my head, perhaps you would want to cast X skill early to make sure it goes on cooldown while the boss goes invulnerable, for example. Or cast a skill late for the same reasons. Or hold skills briefly so you can clear a DPS check at a particular point.

although there hasn't been one put out lately in japan they did have mook's (magazine/books) for the game that had detailed information on classes/jobs and tips for each. of course these were all in japanese and they never made it over here.

this is an example of one i believe:

That would imply people actually read their skill descriptions.
