I also agree with no hammers, SE imo doesn't have the chops to pull it off. Hammers / maces are VERY boring in terms of weapon design and considering how much ugly axes they reveal, I dont have much faith in them if im honest. I'd refer something like a sword whip like Ivy from Soul Caliber with a pull mechanic instead of a throw object aggro button. Addition SE seems to be alot better with Swords, lances and bows over other weapon types.
I'd honestly most prefer that gunlances, and perhaps even gunblades, be achieved through expansion-unique systems making use of (magi)tech, like oGCD skills to accelerate and empower upcoming queued skills, close gaps (in the lances case), or to fire off modified ranged attacks. If we could see classes brought back into the fray rather than being torn out completely, with all but the unique skills being shared (Clemency, Requiescat, and Holy Spirit to Paladin alone, but Royal Authority, Goring Blade, and the like to it and Gladiator), a Lancer with a gunlance and magitech skills aplenty to fill the missing slots could be quite entertaining.

It's worth noting that you can take some liberties with weapon types. The Odenta and Aka Oni Greatclub on DRK, as well as the Zantetsuken on PLD are examples. So there's no reason why you couldn't cover a variety of gun-weapons on a single job.

Another point worth considering is that both the Ironworks and Scaevan Magitek weapons that we've seen in game tend to unfold and change form as you equip them. So what if it wasn't a question of which weapon you use, as it is what form you decide to wield it as? Remember, pure-blooded Garleans can't use magic, so you have to have some sort of technological wizardry built into your weapons to compensate.

I do hope that Renzokuken makes it into the game in some form, though.

I want a gunlance tank job. A big one like in monster hunter, not like a dragoon.

Tank and healer or bust. In all honesty (I hate to throw this around) but I will consider unsubbing it's more DPS jobs again.

Because not one of the tanks or healers are worth playing presently, no 5.x changes will makes them so, and new tank/healer designs will invariably be better than old and would otherwise have redeemed their roster and the game as a whole for you?

There are so many flavors of DPS by now, but only three tanks and healers, it doesn't take long to get bored of playing the same three tanks or healers, especially when they all share gear.

It would be just plain wrong to leave tanks and healers licking their fingers for another expansion while DPS players get even more classes to fiddle with.
Oh I get that. I want to have more fun available to me as a tank/healer, but my point is that, honestly, getting a new job in each either or each roster is no guarantee of a more enjoyable roster after you've gotten use to said job. Personally, I'd likely get more out of the existing jobs being done better -- with more differentiation and flair in their gameplay -- than I would out of a new job, even (and in some ways especially) if that new job blows the others in roster out of the water. That's not to revision and addition are mutually exclusive, either. Of course not. And on principle, by all means, be furious if healers and tanks don't each get a new job in 5.0, but the end result -- whether you're having more fun due to jobs and their gameplay available to you -- is the only result that matters, and it doesn't depend solely on that getting a new job for each.

Sure, general DPS players do. But if I wanted to play specifically a caster I have three choices. Specifically a ranger I only have machinist and bard. Melee DPS are the most oversaturated role currently at having four choices.

Not saying we shouldn't get a new tank or a new healer. I am saying that there's a reason DPS are split into subroles and this "Well DPS have like, 9 choices" is not a point of view I agree with.

Thank you. I'm glad you understand. Heavenward came out in 2015, so if tanks and healers get shafted again that will mark 4 years of no new job.

DPS is DPS plain and simple. Therefore, they have 9 jobs to choose from as no one is forcing you to choose melee over ranged. But, if you want to get technical the ranged sector has 5 jobs to pick from while melee has 4 - both on which are greater than what tanks and healers have to pick from.

I feel like there will be one of each, especially since they did what they did with Blue Mage. At least I hope so.

I very much doubt it, they said that implementing 3 new jobs is really demanding and that they'd rather not do it again after HW. Furthermore the leaks have only mentioned three jobs of which one is Blue Mage, meaning they are already giving us 2.5 jobs.

Not that I'd mind being proven wrong.
