    Reporting quandry

You know, I don't report people often (I've total reported 5 people or so). But when I have it's been because of toxic behavior and usually it's when it gets beyond just toxicity but out right attacking for stupid reasons.

And the reason I bring this up is because every time the GMs send their generic "words can be hurtful." thing saying they are sorry that I had to put up with it. I'm just wondering if it's even worth reporting because it feels like they just ask if I've blacklisted (which I always have) and give me that. I'm not saying the GMs aren't doing their jobs, they put up with a lot of BS and I appreciate their position given that. I'm more wondering if it's even worth it getting that shmeal when stuff like what I've seen doesn't even hurt me and I'm just reporting because it got to a certain level where I feel obligated to block/blacklist someone because I don't want to put up with their bs.

    But yeah, any opinions?

Assuming they have a record when they look up someone I'd say yeah. Sometimes someone who is just having a really bad day can look like a troll, or in an other way a person who is having a bad day finds everyone to be a troll lol. Which is probably why they have that general response kit, otherwise given time we'd see a serious culling .

But if they have a history, like I imagine they do, then you're helping them better warn and punish people based off if it seems one off/unintended vs if they're just a really bad egg.

I expect it's case-by-case and done by repeat offenses rather than straight up.

Coming from somebody who's moderated forums for years. Getting reports is helpful and I've seen posts reported for things they've not been involved in and that is helpful too - it brings attention to the post and I can make a decision or discuss with other mods. When it comes to the user, it generally takes something bad enough to get kicked, banned or disciplined some way. If moderate or minor, we may step in and assert they're doing something they shouldn't at the first instance, but if it keeps propping up then we start making actions. But on forums I've moderated there's usually a thread in a moderator section for people who misbehave so we have a history, so we can see if they repeat and on one forum we could leave hidden notes on people's profiles. So I strongly suspect the GM's keep a log of what people get reported for and communicate with each other. So a report may not result in something being done, it depends on the severity, but may help contribute.

I don't report for toxicity. I just kick them out of the duty or leave or put up with it or whatever. I mostly just report bots and RMT, but if I were to report a player it would have to be for something real bad.
