    Possible Battle System Changes for 5.0

    TL;DR:
    1. Add a Bite Combo for BRD kinda like the one from PvP to replace dots and Iron Jaws; freeing up hot bar space.
    2. Foe's Requiem for BRD being on the same resource pool with other skills would be a huge problem. A possible fix is remove the mana drain from it.

    Battle System Change Request: (PvE) I wouldn't mind the PvP combo system for some actions like the dots from BRD. (Venom/Caustic Bite and Wind/Storm Bite) I would call it the Bite Combo. As in first dot would be fired, then the next would be fired similar to me just pressing both of the buttons in succession like I do now. While the dots are active, the button for the combo changes to Iron Jaws to re-apply the dots before time runs out. If time runs out, the button changes back to the Bite Combo. This still has the player needing to pay attention to dot timers and not waste the time performing an extra action having to re-apply the dots when both could have be done at the same time with Iron Jaws. This thought would free up 2 spots on my hot bar.

    Single Source for skills: Would I freak if everything went to MP? No, but I do have a concern about Foe's Requiem as it's an MP hog. If I were to play that, while needing to use the same MP pool to keep attacking with my other skills, then I would become a useless party member real quick. With that, I expect changes to be made to compensate for only having MP available to play FR and use other skills. For now, the only idea I have to fix that is making it so it's just a timer without draining MP.

    BRD is far from the only class that will need an overhaul with the merger of MP and TP. PLD's whole rotation is out the window. Not <Dark Arts> to <Dark Arts> mention <Dark Arts> DRK.

    I would expect that Foe's will stay as a raid DPS buff, but will simply last for X seconds. PLD will probably preserve the two-phase rotation, but they will do it via something other than the spend-and-restore of MP. Maybe lower HS potency so it's not the best DPS per GCD and make Req buff stronger, removing the MP contingent effect. This would mean you still HS spam under req, but otherwise go back to phys.

    DRK... I have literally no idea what they will do with DRK.

    On the topic, I'm very surprised we didn't see anything about merging Skill Speed and Spell Speed, or the removal of Classes.

    Theyve already said that DRK is getting a major rework, likely due to the MP/TP thing.

    DRK is getting a major rework, same goes for all jobs that use mp and tp.

    I wonder what they are going to do with role actions. And of course what moves are they going to condense/remove.

    Making Role actions a choice was a mistake originally. Giving us 10 slots was a bandaid to probably just removing the slots altogether and giving us the abilities straight up at the appropriate levels.

    All Tanks will just get Rampart at 8, none of this slot nonsense.

    Having choices is cool, but it's a big sacrifice. I would rather make the sacrifice of being the same as every other PLD if it meant that all my Healers have Esuna and all my DPS have Diversion.

    Also if they're job specific then they can be themed visually vs not quite fitting the theme because it's for the role. Like what happened with Dark Knight's defense skill.

    Also new things like "provoke" paladin could slap their shield, warrior shout, Dark Knight point their huge sword at a target.

    Or in other thought/words it's just a slightly less inconvenient Blue Mage issue that they said they wouldn't want to deal with. So if they're not okay with one, I'm assuming they'll want to not be okay with the other (at this point).

    Foe's is an MP hog, but so was Army's Paeon and to a lesser extent Mage's Ballad, back when they used MP. I doubt they're going to make bards use MP for Foe's alongside weaponskills, they'll probably just make foe a 0-MP cooldown like the MP/TP songs were turned into.
