General BLU question #nosalt

Hello Gamers,

So we know BLU is coming and this is not a thread about the good vs the bad vs the ugly. I just honestly have a general question. As BLU is a solo job and not suitable for group play even though it can play in group play with a fixed party. Do you think it will be able to solo the dungeons? Normal and Hard modes? As well as the primals hard and extreme versions? We know they will more than likely give BLU OP abilities. I just don't see the point in joining parties if the job is meant to be played solo. Now if we have to find a group for the extreme primal content for example. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of it being completely solo and not suitable for group play?

I expect it won't be able to solo that stuff, but it will be clearable with less people on BLU.

Say you need to kill a dungeon boss, go in undersized with 2 BLU or so. That would be my prediction.

PF will have parties of only/mainly BLU looking to clear fights.

If they’re staying as op as they said it was, then I imagine they could heal and damage. so, be able to solo things outside of stricter dps checks, or be unable to do mechanics at all if it’s something like goals or something like akh mohrn

I'm expecting Blue Mage to be balanced a bit higher than a normal job (in terms of DPS, etc., especially if element weaknesses are a thing outside of Masked Carnival), however I think most of its 'soloability' is going to come from the shear range of abilities it will have access to.

For example, in a similar way to RDM having a heal making if far more 'soloable' than a BLM, I expect Blue Mage will have at least one heal, several 'stun' / 'disable' like abilities (e.g. bad breath), mitigation / shield abilities, crowd control abilities (e.g. sleep), and a few OP abilities (e.g. Death).

So yeah, you won't necessarily be able to just kick the door in and 1-shot everything, but smart use of abilities will allow you to do a LOT more content solo than a standard job of the same level.

If I recall specifically, Blue Mage can do party content but only with full pre-formed parties, whether or not we can party-finder a Full Group is still unknown. specifically we can't matchmake (So no PUGs), Roulette (which I think still goes through matchmaking to pick a dugeon), PVP (way too unpredictable), and deep dungeon (I don't know why, but I assume since it still technically matchmakes you).

If BLU is allowed in PF but not DF it most likely means that the class is underpowered and they don't want to inconvenience random players in PF. Not the opposite. I'm hoping I can use BLU in the future as a dps healer.. fingers crossed.

I'm hoping it will be able to solo all level 50 content. It seems like it's going to be pretty powerful to have the restrictions it has. Could be a fun job to go back and farm old glamour sets.

I guess even if it can't properly "solo" a fight legitimately, you can keep opening a fight with goddamn DEATH until you 1 hit KO any level 50 raid.
