People who are unsubbing feel more like they have long since wanted to unsubbed and this was just a good enough reason too. I remember before SB came out, some people were threatening to unsub over something or another. Maybe this is just normal for MMOs now.

It's normal for every MMO. Any time something is announced, in ever subscription game EVER, people unsub or threaten to unsub. Hell, I see the same posts in forums on free games, "I'll stop playing because of this!"

I actually agree with the developers in being true to the Blue mage identity. However for it to be in real content it would take serious balancing, several abilities would be extremely nerfed or omitted completely, and the learning experience would be completely tied to story missions that make you learn the moves which would in then cause more focus to be on this job than other job storylines.

From 2009 to 2015 the forums for ffxi have cried for nerfs simply due to how unbalanced the job is and I dont blame Yoshi and his team for being cautious.

I dont think this 1 job is something to quit the game over, however that is you and you are able to quit whenever you please.

However I would rather it be released like this, than it be like ffxi Blue mage which was broken and completely destroyed group content.

Maybe, but trivializing feelings isn't going to make someone happier about the game. It way too soon to say BLU is going to be all right, either. hype works both ways, if the premise of the "limited job" sounds like an inferior, half baked experience that doesn't help your character, people are going to be mad about it, they'll call it a minigame and king of the latecomers.
