Breaking into Extreme Content

Heya,
I Have recently got to level 65 quests in Stormblood, and really enjoyed going through the warring triad trials (Normal), the hard modes of previous dungeons, and the occasional dip into extreme trials in ARR.But finding the right opportunity that I feel I can do really feels like it's luck based. Like I just haven't been in the right place at the right time to meet the right people to begin clearing this content.
Though the fact that words like 'static' and all of the PF listings requiring at least the duty being completed prior to this still scare the living daylights out of me probably has something to do with it.
Going and doing the research prior to attempting the dungeon/trial is something I'm definitely okay with. I've always been fascinated with how raid groups beat this higher end content and the co-operation required to do so. I would love to be part of one of said groups.

So my question is what is the best way to get into this kind of content?
I've heard a lot of people use the party finder, but also that even that is a luck of the draw situation.

Ex content is nothing to be afraid of nor would it require a static.
Since it's mostly older content, look up a video guide on the fight you want to try, then simply either queue for it, or use a PF to advertise it's your first time (People love bonuses)

If you're doing the old level 50 content, or even the 60 content, you'd want to use the Undersized Party option in DF when queuing up after your party is formed. AOr at least, this is what most people would expect. This prevents level sync and honestly, takes away all of the challenge making older content trivial.
