I always felt lukewarm with the hype of pushing in Ilsabard with our ranks, because the allied nations are so small compared to the empire. And we have Doma and Ala Mhigo that are barely rising from extensive fights. We are not in a military superior position, and that's why I think the most likely way to challenge the empire is the sneaky way. By 4.5 we will have a clunky plan to go and spill tea in the right places so that the empire crumbles on itself, whether it is in Thavnair, Dalmasca or in Garlemald itself.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Perhaps we will indeed win easily - but we certainly don't know that yet.

So far we have just had a few teasers about upcoming content - teasers which may well be intentionally misleading in some ways.

Easy. Counter the airships with people on birds. It's already been proven that people on birds beat Garlean air power.

Anyway, I do hope there is more to it, as others have mentioned. i kinda go back and forth on rooting for the empire, but I find them(I guess I should say I find the people in the empire, and less the nutty ascians) interesting.

Maybe Ishgard can gives us an edge in that? They objectively have the most experience fighting flying threats and i think we see their flag in the battlefield during the CG trailer. Hell even some dravanians could join us (thought i doubt we would have any support from the big fluffy boy himself).

Altought yeah if Garlemald breaks out the actual big guns we might be in actual big trouble.

If WoW is any indication and if we are to bring another calamity then I imagine 6.0 and beyond would see a restructuring of all of Eorzea. It would make for a very good reason to redesign ARR areas to include flying/swimming in those zones and increase their size substantially. I've always wanted to visit that volcano in the distance seen from Mid La Noscea.

That volcano in the distance is U'hgomoro (or however it's spelled). Where the kobolds live. Where you fight Titan. You've been there lots already

I wouldn't be surprised if an Agrius-class battleship was taken down by some random throwing a rock at it, much less a handful of bird riding lizards, with its onscreen combat record. The Agrius got curbstomped and the Gration couldn't even take down the Enterprise (Edit: with the extent of Cid's evasion being flying in a straight line or listing lazily to the left no less), with it only taking out Shiva when she finally stopped moving. The thing's beyond pathetic. A glorified troop transport. And unless the Empire was somehow working on a third somewhere that no one bothered to mention or that I'm forgetting, we'll not be seeing one again.

The mods don't seem to like leaving story discussions in the General forum. It's a pity - they attract people that don't come to the Lore forum, and it makes a nice change from the twentieth topic complaining about [current target of outrage].
