RMTs in PSN Messages

Not really sure if this is the right place to post this, but I got what is usually an RMT shout in game as a message on PSN. I doubt Square Enix can do anything about it, but thought I should share it anyways. Not sure if this is them "evolving" or if this has happened before and I was just lucky that I haven't seen it before now.

I play on PS4 since 4.0, but luckily haven't received anything like that.
Have you tried reporting it to Sony? Although I'm not sure if it's against their ToS or not.

I kind of figured they'd get more desperate now that SE seemingly did a total chat block on that website the shout spammers were advertising (But not the say spammers, for whatever reason...) so now they can only vaguely suggest people look it up with google searches instead of offering a direct link (Which is probably even less likely to get people to take the bait).

On the plus side, I think there's a decent chance this could potentially get much stronger action taken against them if it's getting Sony involved in this mess via PSN abuse.

Oddly enough, only PS4 players can see each other PSN IDs. So it is very possible to hide them, somehow.

It is possible to change who can send you messages as well if it gets bad enough. It's it:

Settings, Account Management, Privacy Settings, Personal Info | Messaging, Messages.

I have mine set to Friends Only.

I know it's not a fix to the problem, but if it becomes more of a spam issue, it might be a good option to use. I would also report the message if you haven't already. Worst case, nothing happens. But at least worth a shot.

That's really strange. I've been playing since 2013 and have never had that happen to me. I wonder if they're a troll or something.

Might be a troll, doesn't make much sense for a bot to be on PS4, It wouldn't be easy to automate bots like that on a console?

PSN has already banned that account several times.

But your best bet is to report them through PSN or set your PSN settings to where you can only receive messages from friends only.

Unfortunately said gil sellers already have found a way around that block (by using the inverted A/B/S icons mostly used for hunt marks). They were alive and well on Odin yesterday in zone chat. :-(
