Is there a way to connect data centers ?

With the data center reshuffle some people are going to be losing long time friends. Is it possible to for the devs to rework the networking code for FFXIV to allow the data centers in each region to be connected together?

Blizzard has done this for WoW you can pretty much play with and be friends with anyone on any server in your region. I know Yoshi P is a fan of theirs. So I know its possible for a mmo to do this.

Maybe look to having some way everyone can play together. Because this 3rd data center feels like the player base will be divided up further. We don't want friends being split up.

Maybe one day in the future, but don't hope for it any time soon. The dev team probably want this too, they are pushing for a world less game, with cross server PF and LSs being the first step, world visit being the second step, and super data centers or cross data center PF being a future step.

It takes a massive amount of work to implement something like that, so dont expect it for a long time, but it's likely on the Devs wishlist

I'm hoping something like this could be done. Even if it's limited to what we have now: CWLS and ability to form CW Parties.
It would solve so many problems people are having right now. Having to choose between your static and your friends is a decision lots of people are facing and if it's at all possible to make that choice unnecessary, then I think Square should be putting resources into making it a reality.

Our FC has been happily co-operating with another FC on Cerebus, after the split we will be losing our friends. We are both well established on our respective worlds and it's just not practical for either of us to move. There are too many people involved, too many houses would be lost (what use is gil when both you and your fc had your dream plots?), all the progress on one company's workshop would have to be sacrificed.

The split is going to cause huge disruption for a lot of players, some sort of link between the 2 US data centres, and a similar link between the 2 EU data centres, would go a long way towards alleviating it.
