My own GM encounter.

After having sat in another less-than-successful experience points party, I happened upon the subject of GMs in my linkshell chat. I got thinking about how I never get to see any GMs anymore when I get stuck, now that return has no anima cost. I then had the idea to send the GMs a nice little letter...

Someone in linkshell chat then mentioned that it is night time over at Square Enix HQ, so it seemed unlikely that I'd receive a response soon. I decided to leave my fishing spot and return to Ul'dah to do some crafting, and halfway through the first craft, I noticed the flashing GM call icon in the top-right corner.

"How unexpected!" I thought, as I hastily finished (botched) my synth. I rushed through the menu, eager to see what their response to my letter was. As I opened the response, I was both uncontainably jubilant and utterly disappointed.

I don't think that was an automated response simply because you didn't receive the reply right away. I imagine someone did read your GM call, but was required to reply with one of many pre-written paragraphs.

And besides... [GM]Dave isn't on XIV as far as I know. If he were, you'd probably not have that level 50 fisher any longer.

GM: "No.. I can't have an affair with players... that's strictly against SE policy" /turn back with tears
GM's evil step mother walked in and read the letter. (I don't know why step mother show up...)
Evil step mother: "NO! you are supposed married to the Bayohne tomorrow! Arrrgh~~"
Evil pirate step mother /tear GM call.
