Crystal Datacenter Discord - Light of the Crystal

I am the admin of a smaller Aether achievement hunting server called Odds n' Ends that some of you might be familiar with. While relatively quiet recently (dang school), it was a success in teaching and bolstering up new players to be able to farm primals, host farm runs, and improve their skills enough to farm current content as well.

With the announcement of Crystal being created, it spelled doom for the old server as all of our mods and admins were Balmung folks. Not only that, but it worried us greatly as a cursory glance at how servers were being distributed would show how bad the DF/PF scene is going to look in Crystal.

It is no secret that Crystal is going to suffer in terms of PvE, and it is frankly unfair for those who cannot move from their Crystal homes to have to choose between a healthy PvE scene, RP, or housing (or whatever else keeps them on their home servers).

We hope to expand upon this idea of our small Discord to create a place where Crystal players can find parties, learn, and teach for all content. Hopefully this will be a stepping stone to improve what seems to be a very bleak PvE future.

Do you like farming mounts? Are you an avid TT collector? Are you an achievement hunter? Are you having trouble getting groups together for these things? Worry no longer.

Light of the Crystal is a discord where you can find like-minded individuals and find help for farms and achievements. Veterans and newcomers are both welcome as everyone needs a spot of help occasionally.

This server is for everyone from the Crystal Datacenter who is interested in things such as mount farming, achievement hunting and minion gathering. Roles are available for sign-ups so that you can be notified whenever there’s a farm for content you’re interested in doing going on!

We also host learning runs of old and current content alike, as well as events to help revitalize Diadem and PvP to snag old rewards and achievements.

Honestly, abandoning Crystal is the wrong thing to do, on multiple levels. I'm staying put because I don't think forcing the dev's hand AGAIN is the right decision to make as a community. Pretty much my whole FC is raiders or former raiders, and we aren't moving. We will make our own raid groups after the split.

There are always people who are interested and willing to learn, you just have to find them.

Also, I would recommend adding a general text chat channel haha. Edit: figured it out

Agreed completely. They’re clearly trying to help Balmung stay where it is. If we suddenly bail they might do worse. Worse is forcing people to leave the server.

Yes, it's the wrong thing to want to play with your existing friend circles and be apart of an already cultivated community—one some of the very players leaving helped create all the way back in 2.0. Why should we have to put in all this work to recreate something no one asked to lose in the first place? SE isn't paying us. They aren't giving a damn thing. If people want to do that, by all means, I hope it works out for you. But no one is under any obligation to do so nor should they be forced into a situation they didn't ask for.

And in doing so they won't have a congestion issue anymore. They'll have a financial one as all those players quit the game entirely. If I logged in and found myself suddenly on Coeurl, having now lost my house, static and ability to play all my friends because of SE's incompetence. They could take their servers and shove it for all I cared.

Aren't there already enough negative threads? This one was supposedly for promoted a discord server for the people choosing to stay. We can keep the negative in the rest of the threads, no? Everyone knows it sucks, some are just making the best of it they can.

At this point, people are just going in circles anyway.

If you didn't want this to be spun in a negative light, don't write a paragraph that essentially threatens players who do want to leave or call out their decision as wrong. You want a positive dialect? Don't contribute to a negative one.

That won't happen; worst case we go from "Balmung, the server" to "Aether, the datacenter", where Aether as a whole gets locked and they offer transfers off to Crystal and/or Primal.

Eh? I picked up nothing threatening about their musing on the situation. There's a legit point there concerning this urge to have everyone dogpile back onto Aether.

Telling people if they transfer back it will force SE's hand does border on a threat. It's essentially saying they have to just accept what happened and pick up the pieces or deal with SE's wraith. While not necessarily inaccurate, it contributes to a negative discussion and puts blame on the players. The latter is what I took issue with hence my response.
