reconsider EU DC split

Once EU gets the two new world, that would of been 12 worlds on one datacentre. No current centre should have that many worlds on a single one, and so they would need to be split because otherwise I see a disaster waiting to happen. DDOS attack or SE side technical issue could effect the entire EU playbase, but you split them up you have the chance for less players to suffer from disruption.

Chaos as it was would have been an estimated 120k population, making it the most populous datacenter when considering it was only one datacenter. It needed to be split.

If my quick head maths is right which it probably isn't the EU data centres will be 25% smaller than the next smallest data centre which is a little worrying.

If that graph is true, why we have less servers than any other region, if we have more players than any other region?

The reason Chaos is the most popular data center is because EU only has one data center, the NA players are split between two data centers, by combining Aether and Primal you'd have about 60k more players than on Chaos currently, and the Japanese player base is likewise split between three data centers.

Edit: Forgot Crystal was on the graph too, that makes it so there's about 140k more NA players than EU.

So Chaos was not most populated DC if you combine NA DC after all. Eu have 120k players and na 263 / 2 = 131.5k each. Aether probably more because they have 13 servers into one DC.

I just wanna share this graph, updated with active accounts. I think it speaks for itself :



EU datacenters will be significally lower in population than their NA and Japan counterparts.

And this is just an estimation, what because people will migrate, especially raiders, who I assume will all move to Chaos, leaving one DC devoided of the raiding scene.

This needs to be considered by the Dev team.

There is no way this will work, as they will end up facing the same problems as before (heavy load on Chaos), but also creating new ones (Light devoided of competitive scene).

I am normally not really active on the forum but after last night announcement I really need to post this.

Atm I am absolutely torn. There is only a lose - lose situation for me.(and I am quite sure for many others as well)
I am on Odin with friends, FC and my house(my dreamplot that took me 3 years to get) I also have friends on Both "new" data centers and same counts for my current raiding static.

Free transfer will solve nothing because no matter which datacentre I pick I will either lose friends/static or FC/House.

SE please is it possible to look in to Cross - datacentre PF (eg. making it Regional PF instead?)
This might elevate quite a bit of issues I think and also keep the future in mind where there's a possibility that again a new datacentre will be added and again we will be split up.

Not to mention the Current EU pf scene is already slim to begin with it will just get even worse after the split as many people already have mentioned.

Never said it was fact, it's an approximation. I would assume SE knows what they're doing if they are going through with the split.

I never said you did i was commenting on the graphic but i'm not so sure if they really know what they are doing, but there isn't anything that we can do about it anyway.

Yeah, that's it, I think Aether has always been more popular than Primal mostly due to Balmung and now Mateus as well and there being no alternative RP servers on Primal, previously you could count Gilgamesh in that with how it was THE raiding server for quite a while in HW before they added the crossworld party finder. Though even then Primal hasn't lagged that far behind.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but SE isn't a multi-billion dollar game company. Everyone seems to think SE have the same financial clout as Blizzard or Google/Amazon, the latter which really are worth billions, but SE can't just magically purchase new servers out of thin air.

I don't think this is unreasonable after ffxiv's funding of ff15+DLC, .

You mean the same FFXV that just had a ton of DLC cancelled and SE took a massive hit to it's finances because of it? Yeah SE clearly don't have the money to pull from there at the moment to fund anything let alone FFXIV.

Not to mention the Current EU pf scene is already slim to begin.

See now this is something I always raise an eye brow about. I log in most days and see up to on average 60+ PFs active throughout the day (excluding late night time or days of new patch content), so at the moment all the scare mongering about the PF going to suffer even more I struggle to believe. Sure once the centres split, the PF will take a hit, but at the moment things are not actually that bad.

Friendly reminder on the current situation of Chaos DC : it's very laggy, and everybody knows that for a long time.
People have asked : do something about EU DC.

Then they will.
That's a sacrifice that has to be done.

Besides, if SHB appeals a lot of new players, at least world be less congested and we won't have maintenance every 2 weeks because "well haha, Chaos crashed"
