From my experience most people will choose greed over friends. Especially, on a MMO sad as it is. I've seen too much drama in my FF11 days made me jaded.Sounds like a lot of problems that free server transfers will help with. You could see it in a glass-half-full light as an opportunity to consolidate all of those people you care about onto one central server. You've plenty of months to feel out your network and figure out which friends and friends of friends are going where. Unless, you know, digital realestate is more important to you than those friendships you lauded so enthusiastically. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

See, all those friends have connections that you dont have a connection to, and so on. At what point do we cut off people from their friends? Or do we all have to just put the whole population one datacenter?Sounds like a lot of problems that free server transfers will help with. And again the thing with giving up one thing or the other. You don't get it that people don't want to do that right? But yeah there are always people who defend the stuff SE does as long as it doesn't rub them the wrong way.Sounds like a lot of problems that free server transfers will help with. I don't mean this to sound harsh, and I really feel bad for those that have to choose, but.... That's too bad (again, I know that sounds negative, it's not intended that way, just can't think of a better way to express it). Something needed to be done and this is what they have decided this is the best/easiest/whatever to go about it. I get that people don't want to choose... but, that's not an option. They made it pretty clear that complaining about it is futile. We would be better served spending our time trying to congregate as many people as we could somewhere that would be the most convenient for the most people of our particular group.

Is it bad to think that I'm looking forward to the chaos this will cause? At least it's a change and I'm all for change. Will be painful for most but change always is. Nothing lasts forever.I don't mean this to sound harsh, and I really feel bad for those that have to choose, but.... Not to parrot what I've been saying in my own thread, but they really should do this a week or two before 5.0, not in the middle of a raid tier where people have established statics and groups working on clears.I don't mean this to sound harsh, and I really feel bad for those that have to choose, but.... I am willing to look for new recruits on the expansion as much as I hate to do it, it's a lot easier to recruit people at the start of a raid tier instead of in the middle of it.

But it is not only the choosing.. It is the EU Servers population. Right now its difficult to find people for some stuff or even find new people for a static. How should this work if population ist splitted in two parts?I don't mean this to sound harsh, and I really feel bad for those that have to choose, but.... EU doesn't really need new servers. Yes, people will come back for 5.0 but many of them will leave as fast as they came back as it is always happening.

Oh it is always futile to complain if you are not a japanese player and i know that, but still people will vent and they have every right to do so. Its not the players fault that SE is too stingy to get better servers, find a better solution for releases or simply close servers before they are overpopulated.I don't mean this to sound harsh, and I really feel bad for those that have to choose, but.... No mmo developer is going to make your in game relationships priority when making these decision. The health of the servers takes priority over your ingame friendships, don't like it quit and never touch MMO again. Clinging to ingame friendships so tightly is unhealthy..so seek therapy yourself before suggesting others do.To every person who has tried to minimize the impact this is having on groups of friends being torn apart - please, I'm trying really hard to not get banned from the forums, don't force my hand.
Right now I am on Zalera with my FC and the majority of my static who I love. Our DRG is on Cactuar and we were so happy to find him at the end of Sigmascape and he fits in perfectly. My best friend in-game is from Adamantoise, sometimes he's literally been the reason I've kept playing so that we have a thing to do together and hang out in discord during. I've got people I care for on servers spread across all 3 data centers now and it was bad enough being unable to play with people from Primal but now it's gotten even worse.
If you think this isn't an absolutely awful decision by SE that showed basically no care for the playerbase or the friendships that have formed via this game I don't know what to tell you. If you think ' Oh well, make new friend's I am literally disgusted by you. Seek therapy, you need help.
Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!

It’s incredibly insensitive to tell people to not bother to value the friendships they make through an online game. Just because they’re ingame or virtual doesn’t make them any less a friendship than those with people nearer to you that you see every day. Especially in this day and age.No mmo developer is going to make your in game relationships priority when making these decision.
