unexpected error, exiting ffxiv

So I was finishing up MSQ quests and after fighting Sadu and doing those quests, I teleport to the Doman Enclave since that's where I have to go next, and as the screen is loading I'm kicked out. I get a window pop up saying "An unexpected error has occurred. exiting final fantasy xiv.(17)" And then I am forced to close the game. I've reset my computer, updated my drivers, and checked direcx and all come back fine. I am able to log into my other characters, teleport, and move around, but I cannot log back into my main character. Whenever I try to, I get the same message above at the loading screen and am then forced to close FFXIV. I really need some help here! I already submitted a bug report ingame as my other character but I can't seem to find any kind of help or information.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I apologize for the delay in my response. If this is only happening with one character, you may want to try deleting the locally saved data for XIV. This data can be found in the My Documents Folder (My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Be aware that this is your personal settings (UI settings, Gear sets, Macros, etc.), so you may want to back it up before you delete it.

Does the same issue happen if you use DirectX 9 mode?
