And you are so right, you would need to look hard to find ANY gear that would look bad on Viera, low-level/high-level gear looks amazing. The only one I can think of is the meme gear which is basically the heavy armour that encompasses head and chest, but that looks atrocious on all races. XD
Going through the MSQ with Uki is such a blast, she looks perfect in all of the cutscenes, and surprisingly I am not using as much glamour as I thought simply because she looks good in everything, even mix-and-match levelling gear, unlike with the other races, I don't need to look out for things like the tails on Miquo'te and Au'Ra or the weird proportions of Elezen basically necessitating a thiCCC choker/necklace to balance out the neck. As well as other things for the other races! Albeit I am not as upset with the tail and proportions thing on Pip since I have a certain 'look' for her and generally stay in that specific 'look', but that leaves my glam exploration a bit... tight. While Uki is just an ideal version of myself I am free to explore and reach outward more on pieces that I wouldn't normally. And I love glamour, I can spend HOURS and even DAYS putting together the perfect outfit, to be just right. And with the new dye system, it got even better. And it just so happens Viera looks the best in well everything, it being casual, cute or heavy armour! The only thing they don't have is hats, but it doesn't bother me, I don't like them since I prefer seeing my character's expressions during story or side content (though I am 100% for adding headgear, more customisation is good customisation!)

But I rambled enough, I can just talk on and on about Viera and Glams (and Hrothgals, but them more in terms of lore♥), so here is my bun bun tax:

I know exactly what you mean!
I just absolutely adore the aesthetics of, for example, gray-skinned Mooncats or Duskwight, but I feel like it would be so difficult to make glams that work really well on them, especially color-wise... So I'm really happy I decided to make my Bun in more or less neutral colors, I can dress her up in almost any color and it looks nice
