As it is entirely a hero class and, if no fourth raid tier, will have no real balance repercussions unless to the point of having one for every slot... yeah, couldn't have picked a better time. Or rather, that'd be the advantage if this was an actual job. As it's basically a GS minigame, it really wouldn't matter anyways.
You're asserting a false ultimatum. A "standard caster" or "not there". The only necessity is that something has to give, but with a coming expansion, that could have instead been the treatment of the job roster instead, towards better design in general, not just the players' desire to see a BLU and for it to actually be a BLU.Shouldn't be baffling.
They wanted to add the traditional Blue Mage, which has a design that doesn't jive with the design of other classes and balancing for content (obviously they could have, but is that really Blue Mage or just a caster with a Blue Mage flavor), and have decided to add its own content to the game as its own (solo-focused) "current content."
Expand your definition of "current content" outside of the narrow "level-cap dungeons and raids" and suddenly it's not at all confusing.
And... content? I mean, maybe in the sense that Chocobo racing is content, but... you don't create a minigame and call it a job.

That's true - I didn't consider an aspect of beta-testing for it. I bristled a little at the 50-cap, because I'd love to use it in current content, but given it looks like standard leveling and having to learn your own actions (you don't get any from leveling, it sounds like!) at least it'll be a busy leveling rush to 50. XDLove this! Some people may bristle at the cap, but it's a smart idea. Rather than launch at the expac at level 50, people can level up from 1-50 and then be ready to level more at 5.0. Gives the devs more time to balance the job with real-time feedback, too -- and without breaking higher-level content.
This is probably what they meant by limited Itś basically an ¨explanation¨ for people who don´t understand how blue mage works.

As this person said, its likely the lvl cap is set to 50 and will increase when the game comes out OR increase as it gets closer to xpac. This way you can lvl it to 50 now, then 60 closer to the xpac, then 70 before the xpac so you can start the xpac as one. A big issue I think people probably had with SB was Sam and RDM started at 50 at the beginning of SB, and put people behind story wise as they needed to catch up to 60 before actually moving forward. They probably dont wnat a repeat of that.Love this! Some people may bristle at the cap, but it's a smart idea. Rather than launch at the expac at level 50, people can level up from 1-50 and then be ready to level more at 5.0. Gives the devs more time to balance the job with real-time feedback, too -- and without breaking higher-level content.
This also prevents the new class from messing with current content till an appropriate time. As in, they dont want you to be doing end game content with the new class till that endgame content is all but irrelevant

Can I take the instant wipe moves from Primals please? xD
Greetings and salutations, adventurers.

I don't get the point of having a job you can't really play outside of its own duty or in anything relevant.
It's definitely more of a fanservice. But honestly I don't mind it being limited, because the mechanics around it seem very finicky. People get their BLU and it won't instantly break anything until they are ready to raise it to cap.

Man, I thought you were messing with me. I guess not.
