    I'm uh... I don't like that the reason you can't duty finder it is because of how it learns spells. I mean... their example of the LVL 5 death is easily solvable by having it do flat damage against bosses. And if they had designed it so it got some skills by leveling and some unique skills from kill mobs duty finder wouldn't be an issue. So I'm less impressed with Blue Mage and am really hoping the Gunblade job they hinted at in the trailer is a DPS.

    Not saying I do or don't like this decision in general myself, as I have mixed feelings, but...

    Some of those jobs are downright terrible representations of their classic job reference, completely destroyed to make them fit into the way the dev team wants an MMO to work. Red Mage managed to turn out great and have all their classic abilities converted in a way that makes sense, and even Dark Knight IMO was reworked pretty well into a tank. But Summoner has been some kind of WoW Warlock and a dragon laser mage, never an actual Final Fantasy Summoner. Thief doesn't even exist, and Bard and Ranger are both...not right. They're all good jobs as they are, just not at all like their prior FF counterparts.

    I don't think it was outright impossible to do Blue Mage right as a party job, but I do understand their concerns with being able to learn and use classic blue magic like Mighty Guard and Level 5 Death in an MMO setting, particularly given their track record with other jobs.

    Sure.

    Sorry you won't get to play your Black Mage with different spell names in raids, but there's nothing wrong with experimenting with implementing classes like this. Lighten up, chief.

    Have you forgotten this is an MMO? People wanted to play BLU with their friends and do endgame content but they're limited the devs are literally saying "this is how you're playing the game our way!" not to mention leveling is grinding more mobs and FATEs might as well just sit in Eureka oh wait you can't since it's Elvl-oops. My friend really wanted BLU same as everyone else only to be told here's BLU however you can't do anything, you're incapable of doing anything in a group, you're a solo class and gimmicky with RNG is that good design? It's not.

    People aren't being narrow minded they're voicing their complaints and how disappointed they are and don't agree while you're saying "well that sucks for you" it does, this Fanfest was pretty underwhelming and that doesn't bode well for the expansion if this is a large chunk of the rest of the rock that we're getting.

    According to the screenshots, there are four pages of 16 actions each, which means 64 actions max. You make your own selection of 24 to play with, and can switch pretty much as will. How the heck did you guys expect them to balance that?
    Or maybe were you expecting a Blue Mage with a fixed rotation, abilities learned through leveling and something like 25-30 skills only like any other job so it could fit in the current roster of jobs? That'd be an insult to Blue Mage, and you guys would be pretty pissed about it, don't lie.

    Besides, Yoshida already told about a year ago or so* that if they were to implement BLU into FFXIV, it'd have to be quite different from the other jobs. You guys, even knowing that, kept asking for it. You kept asking for "new original content". You kept asking for a meaning to go do some stuff in the open world.
    That's exactly what they delivered.

    For BLU to exists, it had to be its own thing. And its system seems actually pretty fun (aside from the RNG part...).

    Having KO abilities instead do massive damage to more important enemies is a thing in RPGs. Particularly to show how badass the enemy is that DEATH only hurts it.

    This iteration of BLU is absolutely perfect and the only viable way they could translate it into an MMO setting. Its unique and sheer perfection. Wonderful job dev team! Ignore the crying, continue on!
