I get the feeling that this is their way of testing things before moving toward mega servers. First we can visit one another and then BAM we are all stuck together.

Probably would need to overhaul how housing and the market works before that happens. Else you'll basically always be in a new server cluster cause of your house and the markets will instantly crash due to servers with a low economy.
It is a nice concept though that can work, and they have the basis for that stuff alreeady with PF, Cross-LS, and now the World Visits.
As one who have friends on other servers I am looking forward to being able to do things like maps with them, or just random silly things.Probably would need to overhaul how housing and the market works before that happens. Absolutely do not want. I like my server's Hunt scene as it is right now. Everyone waits awhile after the call of an A or an S for people to get there. Meanwhile, there's my cousin on Gilgamesh, who tells me that(At least in the past, maybe not anymore, I don't know) there's a Hunt mafia of some kind that goes out of their way to monopolize Hunts on the server. I don't want that on my server. An influx of Hunters from other servers would 100% ruin it. That and as it stands in SB right now, if you want to farm monster drops, using Gyuki Hide as an example, there is exactly 1 spot you can do it in, with maybe 6 spawns of Gyuki. You better have some DoW/DoM retainers, because farming those drops are going to be MUCH harder, I suspect.
its not gilgamesh you should be worrying about, balmung outnumbers gilgamesh and balmung players pull just as fast. if world visit allows the marketboards to be cross-datacenter/world. be prepared for markets being destroyed and on balmung's level.
I only used Gilg as an example. Of course it also applies to any server that's Hunt scene is "Pull it NOW!"
I will admit that doing this could lead to an overall more interesting overworld scene so long as SE adds more things to do in it, but if they do this and don't add anything, the only things I really see this benefiting is treasure maps and generally letting friends goof off. It will destroy Hunt scenes. That's not a trade I'm willing to make, personally.
If I had to guess, the world where hunts are a mess will remain a mess and were the hunts are casual or never done they will get done while the group waits for the hunts on their home server to come off CD. So I see nothing good with hunt, though it would be nice to meet someone more than just in pf to do stuff together. As for housing, MB, mog mail and a few other things that need gil, those will all be locked off. I had been rolling alts on other servers before transferring to check out their MB and if I could just go there with my main to buy and sell, that would really be a negative to their MB and the one on my home server. I would think the housing would stay locked as it is not on your home server even though you can visit there and also to allow them to still re balance high population servers. If you don't have to leave your server to get a house or FC that wouldn't help. Imagine a high pop server and two new worlds of housing that they can visit, if they could buy from the high pop server they would have no reason to move to the new server. So my guess is, housing, MB and mog mail are locked.
Except in WoW you have more options to be very distruptive to people. In FF XIV not so much. You can't block things with mounts unless it's outside, even then people have a way around it. Only one possible distruption is a group going out and messing with hunts. Since there is no 'world pvp' no one ever has fear of being ganked at all in this game. You can't kite mobs to someone to murder them either.
itll probably just be Towns(no MB),Housing areas and you can que up with people
If I can do quests and connect to linkshells in the 'visited' server, that will be fantastic for me. No more lonely alt character cut off from easy contact with friends.
