Japanese title is "Shikkoku no Hangyakusha (Viranzu)" -> "Jet-black Rebels (Villains)". That's awfully literal.

That's also a clever pun.
Garlemald is mostly black, the Ascians are mostly black, Zodiark is mostly black, and Darkness in general is black.
There's so many different people that could refer to.
Just going by the teaser, it seems to be referring to us, going rogue to avert a calamity of Light in place of the Warriors of Darkness.
We have so little info, though, since this is presumably off of something at the end of 4.5. I am loving Thancred's new look, though (basically confirmation that he's going to get better at some point, no that there was much doubt).
The trailer mentions years passing (which is completely unheard of in the current continuity scheme), so I almost wonder if we're going to get a timeskip or two-way time travel of some sort. That would let them make patch continuity actual canon while opening up a lot of dangling loose ends for proper continuation (most notably Unukalhai, though he may be brought in before then).
And yes, I'm also hoping that all the teases lately have been leading up to a certain long-awaited reunion in The Future™, but that's actually looking really plausible this time around. The irony would be intense. "Yeah, so, uh, I did make a bright and shiny future, as promised, but now we need to destroy it."

Was that Ultima? Maybe Seraph? Or something completely new to XIV?

Looks less statue-y and more alive. But with that Lion and Gremlin I can see it. I just want it to be more. Seeing the stand-in character getting his butt kicked by a filler boss.

Remember, we had hundreds of red and white Hraesvelgr's in the Heavensward teaser. The cinematic team isn't the same as the dev team.
I assume the Amdapor bosses were being used to represent the light we'll presumably be standing against after our shift to being the WoD, though I kind of doubt the Ascians are going to be our allies despite that change and it might just end up with us playing for neither side.
Also nice to see that Unkhalkai is finally going to be MSQ relevant, presumably.
