Muddled keys on login

I've got a weird one. My friend just got a laptop and i bought them the game. However, when they log into all of their keyboard shortcuts are muddled, like pressing M for map brings up the target "signs" window and none of the 1,2,3,4 etc... key execute any abilites, the only keys that do anything they are meant to are the WASD, she has to ALT-TAB out of the game and then back in again to "reset" they keys to how they're meant to be. Any ideas as to why this is or how to stop it happening?

Sounds like alt key is stuck, and hitting it (alt-tabbing) is unsticking it. Try cleaning the keyboard.
