Also, pointing out potential issues with a request (not everybody has the same experiences, pov, or knowledge) can actually prompt a discussion about how to get around the issue and make the suggestion a better one. When somebody says "they can't feasibly do x because of y", that leaves room to come back and say "okay, how about x with z change?" And that might even be a solution that hasn't been thought of yet.

I agree in principle, in practice though Y is quite often a wild assumption totally lacking in evidence.

This is true. However, we already ignore the many, many "lolz no" or "random meme" responses to threads, so "ofc they can't, bc ps3" or whatever can just be ignored, too xD
