SAM Job Quests Too Overtuned

I tried to complete the level 54 quest (Blood on the Water) for several months, 15+ times, and never could, until I had gear with a crazy ilevel. Now, I can't finish the level 60 quest (The Face of True Evil), and I get killed by Musosai in literally 30 seconds. I think Square Enix needs to do something about this, as being a SAM in these conditions is very unfeasible.

Those quests are a lot of dodging and going through your optimal rotation as fast as possible. Also use your role actions if you need to since you can set all 10 now.

I honestly can't recall anything about the Samurai quests being difficult in any way, I suggest at least being well geared enough for it, as well as using role actions like Bloodbath and Second Wind on cooldown to keep alive, maybe pop a potion if its that bad, if you still need more health, make sure to use Third Eye followed by the proc'd health restore.

As for rotation, not much to say, just rotate it and use Midare Setsugaka when you have 3 Sen, make sure to apply Higanbana (1 Sen) as well.

Want to help more but I can't recall anything about them, for the lvl 60 quest I know I was easily around i270 since I had a BiS MNK back in HW.

I do recall the one on the ship being pretty difficult, but its not undoable. If anything it helped me to learn Samurai properly. It didnt require me grinding out better equipment, i just kept at it, improving my technique.
You have to make use of your full kit, including proper timing of third eye.

I didnt have any issues with Musosai.

No, for the love of God. If anything, this game needs more challenging solo quests so that people don't get to level cap without even knowing the basics of the combat system.

Is this the one with the dog thing? Got to watch it's movements to dodge its attacks, don't remember seeing an AoE marker from it. I don't remember the fight being too hard though, I believe I was in full ironworks at the time if that makes a difference.

honestly i did all the ones from 50-60 in ironworks. and all the ones from 60-70 in diabolic striking gear i260 they're not hard to do at all.

if i recall i did the 70 one in diabolic left side. with a ruby katana or something from violent tides and at best acoupleof right sides from bardaams. levelling in this game is so damn fast i basically never bother getting new gear between levels. no point.

You see these threads from time to time. Class changes(ive seen this exact complaint for at least half the classes in game, maybe more), but the gist is the same. "I cant complete some specific solo duty, therefore its impossible(either for my class or in general)." They test these quests at minimum level and using reasonable gear(if not less). The answer half the time is pay more attention and do what the fight needs you to do script wise to win(kill x before y, keep the healer npc up, etc), the other half of the time the answer is that the player in question isnt using enough of their kit properly and needs to learn their class better. OP, i havent leveled SAM so i couldnt tell you which answer is the right one in your case but i would bet a lot that its one or the other. I see level 70 SAM all the time, and they certainly didnt all by level skips to clear these quests.

Its also possible that you have a mental block regarding proper play for this class and that something else would be a better fit. Some people do better at X then Y(for instance: im a more natural for mage play then melee play - i can do melee, but everything feels backwards to me and i need to fight my natural instincts to do things right), and finding your ideal class often makes everything easier.

I think my gear may be very underleveled, it's item level 144 I believe

Use Super Potions, Bloodbath and Second Wind.
