I imagined Cambrè as them literally pulling the person's soul out of the ground and throwing it to them using that motion, truth be told. Still comical, of course.
A lot of these tried to take how the actual step or move was performed into account when adding the name. The names for the combo weaponskills (Chassè/Glissade/Chaînés) for example were picked because the terms referred to dancing steps that are used to travel or are otherwise blended in-between other, more important dance phrases. Jeté is a spinning leap performed in dance too, where you perform a mid-air split during your spin. Take that however you will.
