    Hello,

Is it possible that we are looking at this wrong?

Perhapse SE's intention was that stats from equipment should be unimportant? Perhaps the intent is that those pieces of equipment should be able to give a LITTLE extra help, a little extra edge. But otherwise not be that important? Perhaps the goal really was a 10-20% boost (depending on how good and how much materia you add)?

This would fall in line with the 'casual' intent? So casual adventurers would 'at worst' be only 10-20% behind the most hardcore adventurer, and therefore not feel bad?

Maybe I'm mistaken and SE has said something to the opposite. Or not. But some nice sticky from the devs posted till the end of time on this topic would be well appreciated.

thats only true if SE expects casual players to be nude.
Thats why Yoshi puts a big emphasis on high level crafted gear being what it is.
Its not hard to come by. Nude should be crap damage because even casual players wont be naked

Well thats what we're heading towards. There are games that I shall not mention where players are dealing 15k of damage per hit

Its absolutely this issue... the fact that my damage dealing stats when nude are comparable to my DD stats fully geared
(Which once again, Kaeko, is not an indictment of the formulae. Its an observation that gear stats are a glaring affront to arrow kneed adventurers everywhere)
all things being relative you could do any or all three of those things
My personal preference would be lower stats though... Thats just me

i've been saying base stats were too high imo for a while now. to me there's no way you should be able to stand in front of ifrit, as a tank, wearing a bathing suit and take just a minor amount of more damage. if this is supposed to be their idea of tough content then a person with just undies should get pummeled.

to me the problem is the amount of stats you have whether you wear anything or fully geared out. i do understand there's multiple variables in the equation, but wearing no gear at all should make a major difference. the problem to me is when you have nothing at all on and start off between 3-400. when you are at 500 and have a new piece of gear and see something that adds +3 it looks worthless.

when my mp is sitting at 3600 how much is a +35 materia really going to help me? even if i double slot the highest manathirst i don't even increase my total mp by 2%. with mp costs the way it is now that's not even one low level spell.

Might be correct, but i was checking the other day we did a moogle fight and a guy in the party was using parse and told us how we did in every fight, so i have balanced gear as archer not the best yet but still decent, but there was a guy who was an archer too with unmelded gear and a crab bow, well numbers are relative on what u do and all but he always got similar numbers in several runs we did, so in a few words the most geared guy with an ifrit bow and double melded gear had numbers over 50-60k+ while that guy got all the time 30-35k all the time so maybe gear helps a little bit more than what we think.

that is definitely worth considering... Its just the Moogle fight is SO RANDOM somtimes...
Its hard to make sense of anything.. even Parses
What if he got more hits on the BLM and you got more on the GLA.... Or your best combo was on cool down when the squishy white mage was killed... or you had to kite the the archer when he got big?
The moogle fight presents a lot of variables.

I will say this... Gear Matters... Stats matter
Kaeko is steady figuring out exactly how much
A game is a very delicate balance so no matter what... I'll give this game my all... once we figure out all of whats going on behind the scenes... I just can't help but have preferences over how I would "LIKE" for them to work...
