Pagos isn't due to the nature of the insane crystal and light requirement (as well as the RNG nature of NM spawn). People just suffer through the torment.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Yep can confirm theres still full instances in weekends and weekday primetime. I went in friday and saturday and there were around 140 both times. Train is still kind of there and not there but ppl doin bunnies and spawnin nms for sure.
Same with Anemos tho the train is definetly active and present. Trying to get my 2nd weapon for BLM cause yes pls
Just started on the light grind in Pyros. Not even trying and getting alot of light with nms and everything. Good stuff
I still think they should let crystals drop from chains, since that would cut a lot of the grind down. Because 500 is ridiculous when you can only get them from the rarely spawning NMs. Hell, Louhi only gives 20!
There's an unofficial translation of an interview about the development of Eureka floating around on Reddit (not mine): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...6GzIzadxA/edit
Most interesting bit to me is it looks like Eureka is more popular than they thought it would be:
I was under the impression that Eureka was meant to be a core feature of Stormblood but it looks like it was always intended as a niche activity. It performing above expectations might also explain why we didn't get official responses to the complaint/criticism threads.Y: As Mr. Nakagawa said, there were far more adventurers delved into Anemos than expected. We initially expected the Eureka playerbase to be mostly limited to people who are comfortable with the attribute of repetition or MMO players who are active communications. Pagos was basically the content that aimed this narrow “elite” player-base to go deeper. It was our fault to not expect that there would be much more casual players along as well.
Edit: This is somewhat off topic but I put it here since it's the most recent Eureka thread I saw.
My question is if they expected the elite playerbase to do Eureka, why would you tie a relic weapon to it. When in the past the relic weapon has been tied to the casual playerbase.
This is my question too. The hardcore crowd gets the raid weapons, which always outclass the relic weapons until the last patch. The relic weapons were always something for the more casual crowd to work on over time so they could eventually catch up with the hardcore players.
The interview was chock full of PR bullcrap.
In the same interview, they say it's niche grind content for elite players, but the designer of Eureka himself admits that it's easy and boring, so much so that HE afks in it.
Q: To think about it, FFXIV battle contents has the fun of learning the mistakes and getting through mechanics and specific rotations to make sure to have output from everyone. However, in the field, all you do is repeating the best damaging rotation and continuous hunting makes it mundane and sleepy... Do you have any plans to work to change on that?
N: We of course expected that kind of receptions from such part. However, even if we make Eureka bound to gameplay different to FFXIV damages the freedom to it and all about being sleepy means you can do that without much thought into it. Eureka could be the content that you visit whenever you don’t feel like doing too much work. Sometimes even myself just raise the hand (ノ) while watching a movie or something and it felt like giving the atmosphere of “I will logon for a while” ready so i think it wouldn’t be that bad to what it means to do Eureka.
always good to see the dev team backpedal on their promises.
First the housing thing, then the white ravens, now repeating 1.0 gameplay loops ala Eureka and BLU (grind overworld mobs, nerds).
Wonder what's next?
High end difficulty for Hydatos eh. I'm worried.
