    Lootmaster bug?

Had an interesting piece of conversation arise last night and neither myself or party members had ever heard of this. Wanted to see if anyone could confirm.

Sitting in PF for o10s clear last night and a dps joined up asking if the leader would change party rules to Lootmaster. They claimed to have already cleared for the week, and also that even though they had cleared it would be possible for leader to assign them loot.

This sounded.. Very odd to say the least, but they went on to explain that it's a well known practice on JP servers and were just sharing the info.

So, at the risk of ruining everyone's fun.. Is this actually possible? O.O

I don’t know if that’s possible, since those who have cleared for the week don’t even have the chests nor the loot list appear for them. It doesn’t even say in chat what drops in the coffer the group gets. Not to mention, I believe the duty will already have it listed in its window “Reward Already Received” just from clearing for the week. So even if they could view the loot list, I don’t think they could actually receive any of the loot—kind of like in normal modes where you can see the loot but you can’t actively roll on it, and if people all pass on it, it doesn’t go to you by some sort of default.

I’d imagine that their name would be greyed out on the Lootmaster list, so the party leader wouldn’t have the option of giving them the loot. Or the party leader could receive an error message if they attempted to distribute loot to a player that has been marked as already having received their loot for the week.

But, I don’t have any way of actively testing this to see if my assumptions have merit. For what it’s worth, I’ve never heard of this exploit ever being mentioned in the time I’ve been actively raiding. I’d imagine if this was so “widely practiced” on JP servers, it would have eventually filtered over to NA/EU, and would have been spread around.

Yea, that's kinda what I figured. Sounds pretty sketchy on the surface. Party lead didn't change it so we didn't get to find out. /shrug

I've seen JP servers use lootmaster far more than US servers. And everyone is usually assigned something and everyone is usually required to stay for X amount of clears. Though I tend to see people get screwed over with lootmaster more on US servers than on JP servers.

Lootmaster in general just feels weird. So I deleted my alt on the JP server. That and my friends in Japan don't play FFXIV as much anymore.

Oh, and I don't think someone can be assigned loot after they've received their reward for the week, so this is definitely fishy.

    Absolute total horseshit.
And no JP servers do not use lootmaster setting either, they'd rather use Greed only instead if it's farm party (commonly called グリパ aka Greed party) and have people called out loot they wanted before entering instance and have them roll for it while the PF maker supervise the process.
