Hopes for Fanfest 2018 - Please dont let it be like Blizzcon 2018

As we get closer to the Fanfest of 2018, I am really hoping that we get something that really helps makes this game move forward and that SE is mindful of what happened at Blizzcon and works hard to avoid it.

I am hoping for some details on the next expansion and at least one solid job teaser / hint, maybe even a new race. I also hope they take all of the constructive criticism about Eureka and use that to make a zone that we will all really enjoy and help fill the content voids between the major patches.

What are you hoping for in Fanfest?

We will get what we get at every fan fest. SE isn't going to change their plans because Blizzard failed their community.

Keep in mind, SE spreads things out over 3 Fan Fests. The Trend tends to be Expansion announced at the NA Fest, and a job teased. That job is announced and expanded upon at the EU fest, and then another job is teased. Then at the JP Fest, they announce that job and talk about it. Also, it is TRADITION that Yoshida teases new jobs through his selection of shirts.

I do think Au'Ra was announced at the NA fest though, so if there are 2 new races like the rumors suggestion, 1 would be showcased at the NA fest. The second one, or a 3rd job would likely be saved for E3, just before the expansion releases.

Sort of; "a new race" was announced for HW during the keynote at the first NA FanFest, but without details. Then during the PLL at the same FanFest, someone asked, "Will we get to see under Yugiri's hood?" and Yoshi said, "Of course, she's the new race," which he wasn't suppsosed to say. We saw Yugiri's face in the next major patch, and Au ra was officially announced at the next FanFest.

What you don't want the next Final Fantasy MMO to be on mobile devices loaded with microtransactions?!? lol... it would be hard to do worse than blizzard did this year. Have not seen a reception like that in a while. Plus the whole debacle with Blizzard deleting peoples comments and dislikes on YouTube. They just made it worse xD

Fanfest is not really the same thing as blizzcon. Fanfest only happens every other year to reveal the next FFXIV expansion. Blizzcon is a more generic games conference type event where blizzard announces things the company is doing broadly. It became more of a WoW fan event over the years because that has been their most popular IP for a long time. Not really the case anymore. Square-Enix usually only does this type of events during E3 for example, and doesn't really have an equivalent annual event (I wish they did).

I want to see it. I want to see the fiasco of an announcement of a FFXIV mobile, during the fan fest, just some weeks after the fiasco at Blizzcon.
