If this game has taught me anything it's that most people find it much easier to point the blame at someone else than to recognize their own flaws. Do anything to take that away (like, say, provide evidence that they are underperforming) and they get very nasty very quickly.

"Muh skill level psuedo-anonymity," as it were.

To be fair, I mostly just hear about meta and parsing on the forums or in youtube videos. But my experience back in 2.X raiding days left a huge scar on me and I'm still not over it. Tbh, I dont feel like Ive missed much though avoiding the savage versions of the raids. My gear may not be the best of the best, but it gets the job done so far in all other content and I'm totally okay with that. The story content is more-so what Im interested in.
I do miss the challenge of learning the savage mode mechanics though.

Which is fair. Bad experiences can be hard to overcome. Reddit and the like tend to overplay the importance of meta. Is it valuable? Of course. But plenty of groups even at the hardcore level don't give a damn about it. I know many groups who have brought BLM, MNK, WHM or DRK before some of the buffs they got. It all depends on the group. Parses fall under the same category. Some groups prioritize it more than others. Most use it more as an improvement tool and to make sure everyone is contributing. It's entirely up to you whether you ever want to step back into the raid scene, but with recruitment discords and a better environment thanks to cross world PF, you may it better than it has been before.

This change wouldn't affect my approach to raiding.

Maybe? Raiding has become a means to and end for me. I don't know why I usually want to have the best gear, I just do. It would depend on the raid battles themselves. For example, I am STRONGLY looking into skipping O9S and O10s depsite needing to have several pieces from both fights because I have no interest in either. Might wait til unlock or maybe just hitch a ride into O11 practice and void my pages from the other two. Idk yet

Not at all, much for the same reason I don't really bother with raids as is. There's no real purpose to them for me because there's nothing from them I absolutely need from them when they're currant. Gear and item levels will always be a fleeting thing due to equipment's short life span. Today's raid gear is next patches dungeon token gear which is fine for a majority of the games content.

Mounts, minions, titles and glamor are all fine but its never been something that I must have here and now. Its more fun for me to grab a friend or two and go get that stuff later unsynced and when we can grossly overpower it when a new expansion comes and the item level is doubled.

I tend to skirt/stay at max iLevel, so it wouldn't be a big change in my plans.

I would probably end up doing them alot more since it would be easier to learn mechanics with everyone instead of being surprised by changes in mechanics that can feel way too different from the originals or feel entirely new and players might be way more forgiving to beginners.

I think more ppl would be raiding if the rewards were worthwhile and there was more variety. One of the big reasons I don't raid is because there is no worthwhile goal for me at the end. And even when I did raid, back in arr with coil I did it mostly because as a legacy the story meant something to me and it was an amazing story too (unlike alex and omega). The story was the goal, after I finished it I rarely went back in, if the story would have been unlocked in a normal faceroll mode like the others I wouldn't have done coil savage either.

The things they need to do to get ppl to raid is not remove ilvl. Its more...

    - Add worthwhile and unique rewards
    - Give savage a unique story
    - Give us actual raids with choice, varied paths, trash mobs that maybe drop items we need for various reasons. 5 years of circle rooms with glorified primals is dull and repetitive no matter how interesting the fight.
    - Make challenges and mechanics consist of more than dps races.
    - Shake things up so battles are not as scripted
    - Keep things up to date, raid tiers should last longer than the patch they are released in. This would also add more variety.

    Among other things....

In my belief raiding in XIV isn't where it could be due to ppl not being able to reach ilvl (which is already set low for the content) but because there is little purpose or need coupled with a real lack of variety and creativity.

Or they'll simply complain they can't get them. Savage did have a unique story originally. The whole reason normal mode exists is due to how many people complained it was unfair raiders got the story and they didn't. Likewise, look at all the whining about the relic not matching the ilvl of raid weapons. You can imagine if raid gear were better or could carry over into the next tier while casual players had no means of upgrading higher? People complained Ultimate required you to beat Neo and Kefka. I still find that funny. One of the biggest issues is SE listens to people who typically don't raid when designing content even for raiders. Although, admittedly, I don't really care if Savage lacks a unique story. A good portion of the raid community is there for the challenge anyway.
