How am I supposed to level in Pagos?

Just came back to the game. I'm Eureka level 20 or w/e from spamming Anemos before I took a break last. I went to Pagos today and started shouting for party. The folks in the map told me my level is too low and that I need to go back to Anemos to hit 21 doing the weekly challenge log. First off, that is lame as hell, but I decided to do it. Went to Anemos, slept through knocking out the challenge log. Went back to Pagos, and I've been shouting for a group for forever. No one will invite. What is this map about? Thanks.

Edit: Just got pretty much laughed out of the map for shouting for party. They told me to go back to Anemos till 35. Neat.

pagos is kind of super horrible.
you can do challenge logs in anemos if you want and just try to make it to NM's that are within reach and shout for invites to that.

hopefully pyros will be more entertaining

How do you level in Pagos? Go to Anemos.

Yes, I'm serious. Challenge log exp is decent for those who can stomach Eureka.

Challenge log group and NM farming groups generally don't look for people of a certain level requirement so I'd shout something like, "Lvl 21 <class> LFG - Challenge Log/NM Farming". Make sure to turn on the Seeking Party option also in the party options. The problem is most people are now level 35 and farming light on Dragons which you generally need a full lvl 35 party to keep the chain going to 30.

Basically, even though you're max level in Anemos, you're still receiving EXP including big chunks from the challenge log.

(Though I'm just sitting out of the whole thing until they boost it a few more times. Challenge log EXP went up twice already. I figure it'll keep doing that over the release schedule.)

As others have said. Do your challenge log in Anemos. It'll take roughtly 7 weeks to get from 20-35 with the new increased exp.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Sincerely, I appreciate the honest advice... But no thank you. I didn't come back to just spam Anemos all over again. I'll just do something else. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Yeah it's way too difficult to catch up, wich is a shame when in the rest of the game they made sure that new people and casual players can catch up easily.

Reaching 21 in Anemos is kind of important, because you have to be 21 to unlock the southeast aetherite in Pagos. In the first part of the map are no NMs at all, with the aetherite you can skip that part and just teleport to the low level NMs.

The only real option to level is to ride the train, because you will have a really hard time to find people on your own level to chainkilling stuff now. Sadly the map design is horrible, you have to go through a bottleneck canyon in the middle of the map to reach the NMs in the upper half of the map. And that bottleneck is filled with enemys wich will oneshot you, especially these nasty dragons wich have sound aggro (so you have to walk slowly to not aggro them).

But! It is doable. When the train moves to a new location to spawn something you will have enough time to reach them. But when something spawns on the other side of the map you will likely not reach it in time, except it's in the southeast where you have the teleport (use /return to go back to the entrance and then teleport from there).

If you can play a job wich can raise and don't tell people your level when you shout for an invite. But the most important part is that you don't die in that bottleneck. Sleep helps with that a lot, so WHM or BLM are preferable jobs too. Just sleep everything wich blocks your way (even the nasty dragons) and just run through.

honestly just sit next to the lvl 21 crystal and wait for low lvl nm to pop.

if you find that too boring your other option is fight things your lvl while waiting for the bottom nm to spawn. (since those will be the only ones you can make it too.)

The sad truth about Pagos is that if you are under 30 you are useless to groups because you don't have access to the upper transporters and will NEVER reach the fates up there in time. Even if you are up there, you will be way too low to be useful.

Now for the low ones, if you camp out at the bottom teleporter, you can reach them when they pop if you are fast and careful, it's still VERY dangerous below 25. When one pops just shout for a group and someone will take you in so they will have a full 8 for the fight, kill the fate and unjoin until the next one, which will probably be awhile.

Now, WHY would you bother to do this instead of going to Anemos? Because honey, the experience from ONE fate in Pagos is almost equal to getting an Eureka log entry done at your level, seriously. At 22 I was getting over 200,000 exp a fate. That's WAY better than anything in Anemos. BUT, you gotta deal with the Pagos crap to get it. Is it worth it? Eh, that's for you to decide. It DOES help get the 20's out of the way fast though so you can get to 30 and the upper Pagos levels. Once you do that, the experience REALLY starts to come in. I did Eureka from 1-35 including armor and weapon for my main job in 7 weeks. You just gotta put in the time.
