Pld sword and shield tied together

Can we pls have whenever trading any sort of tokens for the pld weapon to tie the shield to it as well just like you do for ranked pvp tokens and ultimate I just feel this will be a nice QoL change and prevents anyone from accidentally buying incorrect number of tokens to trade them in for the weapon/shield.
I feel that both items should be paired just like they are when they enter a loot table and upon purchasing/trading keep them separate for glamour/desynth just classed a pair for everything else.

Is this about the tome sword/shield?

On the one hand I wouldn't mind it, on the other I like being able to get a shield in week1 of a new tier if it's a nice looking shield...

I'm just glad that we can still mix and match them, I get the feeling that if PLD was added in 3.0 or 4.0 they would probably have matching swords and shields as one item.

yea but just tokens in general it is silly when every other other job has to get 10 pld doesn't they do have to spend the same to get both sword and shield but as you said buy them at completely different times but the part that gets me most is the inconsistency with how they handle it in some areas you have to have the same as every other job other places they do not.
i basically put this up as a friend was stupidly bought 10 tokens when obviously only need 7 they have spent few hours sorting it they fully admit it is their fault so i do not hold se responsible for the fiasco. i was just thinking for newer players it be easier to streamline buying these 2 items by always pairing them together in shops as you shouldn't have one without the other but still allow to glamour each separately

I never understood the point of locking weapons behind raid tokens to begin with, I'd rather just have weapons moved to tomes like the rest of the gear I think that would solve the problem mentioned in the OP.

If they did that, then they would have to do something similar with the current classes and future ones. Because players would complain to SE why Paladins get special treatment in terms in gear acquisition while everyone else gets nothing.

I believe what they want is for paladin to be changed to work like all other jobs do.

For most jobs, you need 10 tomestone tickets (1000 tomestones total) and seven weekly raid crystaloids to get a weapon.

Paladin is currently 7 tickets and 7 crystaloids for the sword, while the shield is just 300 tomes and you can buy it whenever.

The cost is the same for the sword and shield combined vs other jobs, the difference is we can get the shield early.

In addition, many swords/shields from other currencies have the total price the same but split. For example pvp shields and swords have the cost of another job's weapon split between them as separate items.

What the TC wants is for paladin weapons/shields to come as a pair for the same price other jobs have, rather than being able to buy them separate.

I think the idea with the raid/tome weapons is they want it to take a while to get casual raid weapons, hence the 7 crystaloids one per week, but they don't want to tome cost of the weapon to take seven weeks worth of tomes. So they have the weapon be 1k tomes and seven crystals.

Personally I wish that tome weapons were just from tomes and there were undyable raid weapons from the seven crystaloids so I could get a weapon that matches the Omnicrom Fending set I get through normal mode without doing savage, but oh well.

Basically what Bright-Flower has said i want it so it takes the same amount of tokens to trade in for Sword + shield as is for every other weapon in the game 10 tokens for sword and shield just like it is for ast globe. the sword and shield should be paired together whenever it is traded for something else like tokens, they changed the loot table to reflect that if a sword were to drop so would a shield in dungeons and raids you cannot progress ARR and HW relic without both it seems weird they haven't updated their other systems to also reflect this,they have proven in game they can pair these two items together when trading ranked pvp tokens as well as ultimate tokens.

i get that people may want to glamour them separately so keep them in separate slots on character but please can we have them paired together when trading stuff for them you generally want both as their stats combined are equal to another job weapon

They definitely need to stay as separate items for glamour purposes, or it will be another messy business like the mages' one-handed wands that can't be glamoured onto staffs.

On top of the "general" loss of glamour choice from combining sword-and-shield into a single weapon, it would specifically cut people off from glamouring the Fortemps shield onto any newer items.

Yes, it requires you to use your brain and pay attention for a moment and actually remember what job you're playing - but at the same time it can save you a certain amount of tokens/tomes.
I might only want the shield or the sword from some "sets", so I prefer being able to pick and chose instead of wasting ressources on gear that I dont need. You might be right that generally speaking a paladin would want both sword and shield, but on the off-chance of either having garbage-stats, I really want to keep them seperate.

And "People not paying enough attention" isnt a good enough reason for me to change this.

actually i wish theyd made the shields 3 tokens no tome and kept the sword 7+tome, that way everyone can bank on their chosen job following the same logic at 10 tokens and 1 tome, but at this point its too late to change so every time i go to buy pal gear i have to stop and remember that pal is done differently
