    Unhappy UI Settings reset

So I login after the ddos attacks and none of my settings are saved. The UI is all reset:
The placement is all screwed up, the linkshells are all the same color, no timestamp, etc.
the little arrows on hotbar 1 (so you can scroll through them) are there, I had that turned off because I always end up pressing them during a dungeon or raid. Who uses those arrows anyway? ALL of my gearsets are gone. So I have to re-equip all my jobs and reassign role abilities, actions, potions. And this is on ALL of my characters. I feel like crying. I was running late for raid the other day because I had to quickly redo my hot bars. Then during the first pull, I'm not moving correctly because it defaults to Standard movement (as opposed to Legacy.) I've played since 1.0 shouldn't the default be Legacy? At any rate, I'm writing this post to express how much this has affected me as I actually play every day but also to ask is there anything I can do to restore settings? Please tell me there's some hidden file somewhere?

I understand DDOS attacks are not SE's fault but this wasn't my fault either and I put alot of money into this game and have over the years. What can we do to prevent this in the future? What if we required all active accounts to have a two-step authentication for login (the security tokens), wouldn't that help? If you only answer one question from the post please clarify if there's anything I can do to restore settings? Please help. Thank you.

Unfortunately all your settings are stored locally on your machine so something must have happened that corrupted/deleted those files and forced them to be reset to the defaults.

In a future update you'll be able to backup/restore from the SE servers, but I'm afraid that's not active yet (and we don't know when it will be) so if you don't have your own local backups of those files, there's nothing that can be done, sorry.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

As the above poster said, all of that data is stored locally. Check the Final Fantasy XIV folder in your 'My Documents' folder (My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Has this folder been deleted or moved? Being disconnected won't necessarily affect these files unless somehow they were corrupted.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Uou were absolutely right. This directory was moved somehow but thankfully the data was all there. I just had to place it in the My Games file and voila! Thank you so much! ♥
