Time for a bit of fun!

I've been on a mission to try and get back into AST, and do a better job of playing it as well. My numbers aren't awful, but I feel like I'm missing a trick here compared to the standard of my WHM play in pugs.

So I made a recording. It's not perfect and it's not cherry picked, I blew the opener as I wasn't expecting a somewhat rushed 10 second pull but the rest of the fight was about as good as you'd expect a PF pug to go.

That was just over 3.1, I know 3.5+ is entirely doable and not an unreachable target with my active rate. I'm pretty sure I would have handily beaten 3.5 on WHM in this group (Without being unsociably greedy) so I think there's more of an issue that I'm missing than just not great star and cleric timing.

I can't check the video just now so a logs evaluation only:

Your uptime is solid, both overall and with your DoT, you didn't chad your cohealer, and you're basically keeping the DPS coming constantly. You used food but I'm not sure of what quality. I'm not sure if you didn't use infusions or if the log didn't pick it up - if you didn't, maybe start? You also seem to have drawn as many cards as possible for the encounter.

Also my FFlogs-fu isn't good enough to find this answer for myself - were you holding balance so long to line up with buff windows, or to fish for expanded?

Your combined ranking with your cohealer is already orange, in fact. 97% percentile. So congratulations. But getting orange on the solo rank is hard to do without mistreating your cohealer.

The only thing I can see in logs above yours are burst windows you don't seem to have. Maybe a SCH/DRG/NIN in your composition would have helped. But you're playing AST at a very high level. So congratulations - it was a great run. If you want the 99th percentile combined, it may also be worth checking with your cohealer to figure out where healing might be unnecessary - 37% overheal from you and 45% from your cohealer does suggest there's some room here to improve.

I've always been a massive slacker when it comes to using infusions. I carry them and should at least give them a go to see how big an impact that makes.

You're probably on the right track with the burst windows though. I think the biggest thing holding me back is how I'm (failing at) aligning cleric with extended shroud as well as trying to capitalise on raid buffs at the same time.

Honestly I do too, especially for something like a trial. But... you're not lacking on the fundamentals. So if you want to improve, it's pretty much do the really minmax'y stuff.
