    ERROR 90002 recurring

    Since this afternoon i cant log in anymore and keep getting error 90002. I have no trouble for playing before.

    I have no trouble playing other online games.

    I traced and found out that my packets are blocked by Akamai (i googled, it's a ddos protection software). Lol im not a threat, i just want to play the goddamn game!

    If this goes on until next week, im gonna unsubscribe.

    Good morning and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

    We have been experiencing network problems caused by DDOS attacks. We apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused.

    Please try the following options:

    - The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

    -Make sure your fire wall or antivirus program is not interfering with the game

    - Check to see if the following port ranges are opened on your router. You can contact your ISP and request they open them for you:

    55021 through 55040

    -Try disabling background applications and do a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Disable everything and then restart the PC.

    I tried all the settings that you mention above and the problem still occurs. It's more like the Typhon server blacklisted my public IP address or the Typhon server refused to serve me.

    I can play at other server, like Tonberry or Famfrit. But still, i can't play at Typhon (even after changing the settings like you mention above). Hope this information helps.

    You mention you traced and found that you were being blocked by Akamai. Can you elaborate on that? Did you do a trace route to the server? What makes you think you are being blocked by this service?

    Sorry for late reply, i got a shit ton of work this week.

    I can only trace using Wireshark software.



    As you can see in the image above, in the first row, my pc (192.168.9.2) was trying to send data to Typhon server (124.150.157.29), but it was intervened by 209.200.138.49 (third row, green text). Then the error 90002 happened. This is reproducible.

    And then i lookup the owner of that ip address and i found this:


    So i concluded that i've been blocked by Akamai which is a DDoS protection software. Please, i'm not a threat, so don't treat me like one *sad face*. Until this day, 1 November 2018, i still can't play at Typhon server.

    Thank you for your concern, at first i doubted that i would get a reply, this is beyond my expectation

    Thank you for the update lockerace.

    I looked into this and it turns out that Akamai Technologies is a network and cloud services company. It would make sense that they would have some DDOS protection software, but I doubt this is what is blocking you. From your trace, it simply states that the destination is unreachable, not necessarily that this particular node is blocking you.

    Can you perform a trace route without that program? Simply press Windows Key + R and type 'cmd' into the run command. When the command prompt comes up, type 'tracert' then the IP address. Post the results here. This might give us some more information about what is happening along your route.

    Additionally, when did this start happening? Do you recall anything changing/updating on your PC that coincides with this?

    The issue has been happening since 28th October 2018. The error is always happening after the loading screen during that time period at Typhon server only. There was no problem at other server.

    Finally today, i can play again. The only thing that is missing are many my FC members left.
